Bugging Out - Rant, Discussion and Fix

So let me ask you guys saying you are never leaving something. Outside of SHTF/PAW can you/do you have plans if it is something like a flood, chemical spill, fire etc. that forces you to leave even temporarily?
And for those who are not leaving I understand where you are coming from and if your are at peace then so be it, you had have made your choice. For the rest there may be much work to be done. Don't get me wrong, I dont have a bugout place of my own either but i know dang good and well where i can't go because all the okie idjits are a headin thatway. My skills will carry us a long ways but then again a little ole buggie virus might take me out right when i'm needed the most, only the Lord knows this for sure.

Boltgun, same goes for me. I'm too old & fat to be playing Road Warrior. I'm staying right here - right, wrong or indifferent. They (whoever they are) would have to be twice lost to find this place in the mountains. "They" would be out of gas a long time before they got to here. "They" would find a helluva reception waiting for them if they did make it this far. My family and several neighbor families would make it purdee hell on some city welfare bums raiding & scavaging around here. I'm not saying we could take on an M1A1 main battle tank and a military unit, but we could make it hell on scumbags. Just saying...

We are like boltgun308; we care for an ill family member so if something were to happen, bugging out would not be a viable option with her. And unfortunately, we do not have any property/location to go to (that is ours). If something were to happen in the near future, we would have to protect what we have. We are lucky to be surrounded with great neighbors who appear to have what it takes, but you never know until you are in that position!
The plus side to caring for an ill person, I now have lots of medical training w/ hands on experience and have discovered that there is not much that bothers me! :)

I have a feeling if "it" ever happened, the folks in North Ga would get a rude awakening as the Horde would head North, well most of em at least. All of that precious boondocks would be overrun with soccer dads, thugs, and country folk that arent country at all.

I know the major areas, Atl, Macon, Columbus, Savannah, etc would become war zones.

I think some of the best parts of GA to bug out to is South South GA and West GA south of Columbus. But, you better have some friends or a retreat there because folks in those parts have been there forever.

I think if you are within 25 miles of 75, 85, 95, 20, 16 on both sides you are in the zombie zone.

We are staying put, well at least thats the plan. I know its 3 hours in every direction to the borders. Even though I know the North GA mtns like the top of my foot, I would not head there immediately.


And Matt, I think I saw the BUG OUT BLAZER of death the other day. They came into the showroom looking for a winch.........now I have to look for winches of Death to sell to em!

I agree with some but not all of your "rant". Some of the people here are too old or not physically fit enough to bug out at all. Some will have family members that tie them down to a static location (I am a foster parent and we have a child with a heart defect. BTW, she is scheduled for surgery on the 9th, please keep her in your prayers). I believe that most people do not have the skills to live long term in any bug-out situation for over a month without help.Matt, I believe that you personally have the skills and testicle fortitude to survive, but does your wife and kids? I am guessing you have been around when the bullets start flying. I have seen "seasoned" officers get in the fetal position and buck privates roar like a lion. You don't know about ANYONE until the chips fall. I live in the country, churches are full on Sunday in our area, and farming is a way of life for most sometime in their lives. I am 90% sure I will bug in if possible unless my family absolutely requires otherwise. I call it the Alamo syndrome.

First and foremost I will pray for you and yours! Others please feel free to hijack and pray for them. That is much more important than my conversation.
The kids yes, the wife is a maybe with her medical issues however rather than stay and perish we will make the run and fight when/if needed. I undertsand completly what you are saying and i put a clause in there for that. Be in peace with your desicion. Of course we will bugin until needed as others will but if you are going to leave then make sure you are ready and you have properly prepped and decided to where.
