  • 2nd Amendment

I've been reading Boston's Gun Bible and I think he makes the strongest argument for the second amendment that i have ever heard

    Paraphrasing at best

Imagine if the fight against the bill of rights was fought against the freedom of the press and the government said - "the press can be free but you need to register all means of printing documents" - AKA register you printing press or now in the modern world imagine if congress asked you to register you PC or your blog or else it was "illegal"

This would be thrown out of any court in less than a second

Lets also look at the right to not have the military take over you house (3rd amendment) - Imagine if the federal government said - you have a right to your house only if you register it with us first, if you forget to file the paperwork then you lose that "right" - Any court would again throw this out

The truth behind all this is that if you need to ask the government's permission to do something it is no longer a "right" but a privilege granted by our federal overseers

I think most of the people on this forum would say that I'm preaching to the choir but this point can never be overstated - If they can take away out 2nd amendment rights then they can take away any and all of the rights affirmed by the constitution (we are not GIVEN rights by the constitution - we are given rights by God - the constitution was merely meant to reaffirm those rights)

Thank you for listening to my "right wing rant" I now relinquish my soap box back to you

I want your opinion on this, vigorous discussion is not only encouraged but our republic cannot survive with out it

That is weird. I saw a youtube video of "what if" and it was men in black forceable taking away guns from Americans, when resistance was met they had the authority to burn down the house. I WAS LIKE NO WAY THAT CAN EVER HAPPEN! Then I remembered Katrina, and thats pretty much what happened (minus burning down the house). The sad thing is when it was all over, they admitted it was illegal what they did, but NONE of them lost their jobs with their FAT paychecks and FAT pension plans. sickens me to this day when I think about how those two YOUNG cops body slammed a 90 year old woman for having a tiny revolver in her palm (not in a gripped hold-flat in her palm) while in her OWN house that they forced their way into....

Excellent post...I agree that we are given rights by God and that the constitution merely reaffirms them.

The Founders made it very clear that it was GOD (or some other "Higher" power) that gave us those rights, this is so that NO MAN could have the "authority" to take them away, they knew that if a man believed he had the authority he would in the end take them away.

As you were pointing out RIGHTS can not be taken away, but privileges can.

On the subject of Rights and Government over stepping its bounds...
Go research your right for Freedom of Movement/travel. Then start reading you local codes on licensing and who is required to have a license and who is not. You would be suppressed to see that in most states/cities if you use your vehicle for personal use and not for business you are not required to be licensed (nor is the car/truck) or insured... Think about all the tractors/scooters on the road.

But in practice no one actually knows that and states/cities have moved us into "Transportation" (Movement of GOODS and SERVICES) and it is now "accepted" that you need to be "registered" to drive. We have in effect willingly "sold" one of our "key" freedoms for the expectation of being "Safer" on the road. We let them tell us if you had to pass a driving test we would be safer, if everyone was insured we would be safer... Now that may be true, but if you become an "enemy to the state" because you stored more than 7 days of food in your house (NDAA) and you decide to pack up your truck and head for the hills... Well your "Registered" Truck (your plates) will give you away... You take those plates off and you are getting pulled because every car/truck on the road has plates on them.

So we sold yet another "RIGHT" for "security" or safety but I am guessing soon we will realize that was yet another mistake, another example our founders told us not trade our Freedoms for Security but we did not pay any attention.

Freedom of the press... its gone... Now they just say it is a matter of "National Security" and the press shuts up, again another freedom traded for security.

Amen brother - I could go into several rants here about the communists in the "occupy movement" - I could talk about our DOJ that funneled guns to the Mexican mob to try and get the public on the side of gun control - I could talk about the DEA helping the Mexican mob launder money

If I wanted to I could go all the way back to Waco and Ruby ridge

The point is that I don't need to on this forum. The fact that you are reading this proves that you are concerned about the direction that these united states are headed - The true measure of what we are will depend on how far we are willing to fight for out god given RIGHTS

Anyone can post a rant on this forum

Our true measure will be if we did anything about the things that outrage us

I for one am sick of our "leaders" apologizing for the actions of our republic! - It is time that we had a leader that loves this country and constitution as much as we do and is willing to fight for it

I don't know who that leader is yet - but either we find people we trust to work from within the system or we need to repeal and replace the system just as our founders did some 234 years ago

No. The strongest argument is this:

If you try to take my guns, or otherwise infringe on my God given Rights, I will kill you. And whoever is with you.

No need to get involved with long drawn-out discussions as to what "well regulated" meant in 1790, no need to argue about what a "free state" is or was.
