  • 3rd World War who will it be?

So it is now even mentioned in the media that World War III is now being threatened... What do you think the likely hood is that we see a WWIII? And Do we have any guesses as to which side the major nations will be on?

It appears so far a few have already choosen sides:

    China
    Iran
    Russia
    ----VS----
    U.S.
    Israel

Also Pakistan, I believe, just gave us 15 days to leave our base(s), sounds like they would side with the others. Who knows who else would be againist us? And with us, will the EU back us? Will England back us?

But many "experts" suggest that another great war will almost certainly end with Nuclear War... So does it really matter who is on which side?

During WWII we had only developed the bomb (and we where the only ones with it), but now everyone (all major powers) have nuclear missiles, some have more than others but does it really matter who has the most? No, we can kill most of mankid with only a few dozen and the are thousands out there. And they can also be used as EMPs if they decide to try to "Save" the land. No matter happens if WWIII does come what it will be bad.

If the world drops into a real Depression world wide you can bet on a War. It will be fought over either oil or water or a combination of the two. Russia is the wild card now. They have nuclear strike capability still and it depends a lot of how they view China at the time. China will be a major player in starting it but maybe not in the initial strikes. Look for China to arm and egg on the minor players like North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, and any extremist group they can control. North Korea is a puppet but dangerous even to them. Iran has a lot of internal turmoil but they present a real danger to strike at Israel and that could be the fuze. Pakistan has nukes and hates India. India has always been a threat to China along it's Eastern border.

The US and a very few allies pretty much stand alone. China has a lot to gain from our fall. The Pacific rim is their goal to control. Right now they can do it through economics. They can run us out of business while we pay for their military buildup. The thing holding China back right now is their own population. New wealth has become an addiction for the Chinese people. they ate up Hong Kong but later found out that Hong Kong ate them. China has a lot to lose if a war broke out right now. That is a world wide conflict.

A war now on a world wide scale is taking a look into the dark ages. For us in US look for Mexico to try and take advantage of the situation and move up into the border states like Texas all the way to California. Look for the Chinese to move on Alaska, Hawaii, our West Coast to protect their interests.

In a third world war remember a few things will happen. WE, the USA, will not have access to most medications since they are made in China, We have no textile mills, no steel mills, and our grid has no back up components to bring it back up in less than a year to two years at best case. THE US is not prepared to fight a global conflict at all. For one thing we are broke. We are the USSR (CCCP) of the early 1990s.

      1. In the last world war, the U.S. was a manufacturing power house; our capacity was enormous compared to any of the the other players at the time. That is no longer true, our manufacturing base is less than 15% of what it was even in the 60's. We have to postpone attacks due to parts shortages that cannot be filled from within our borders but sourced from halfway across the world.

      2. Our high tech military is great for shock and awe against insurgent style opponents but will face serious problems in a toe to toe slug-fest with an enemy like China who has been stealing our tech info for decades; studying our tech capabilities and planning to counter them or shut them down altogether.

      3. Where we once stood as the hub of the economic world, we are now on the ropes; economic zones like BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) and many others have been interweaving their markets and forming new relationships completely outside the influence of the U.S. while we struggle with our internal political and fiscal problems.

And that doesn't even touch on the nuclear side of things.

Back to the OP's question: I'm pretty sure that Grinnan Barrett nailed it, he covered all the bases in his post.
