A recent accident has brought back to me the importance of Smoke Detectors. Just a couple of days ago 2 very close friends of mine were lost in a house fire. It was discovered that they had no working smoke detectors...dead batteries.

It may seem like a trivial thing but let me tell you, it is really ****ty to have 2 good men gone for the cost of a couple 9v batteries!

i just installed a smoke and co detector in my place a month ago. runs on 3 AA batts instead of those stupid 9 volts.

Just found out the carbon monoxide detector in my new place works, but only works from the wall outlet. No battery backup.

Bought two new ones (battery operated) and I do not consider it money wasted at all.

Thanks for posting Jayson. It's always helpful to get those kind of reminders. I just replaced mine last Saturday.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friends.
