I agree with ridgerunner here. The power of owning a firearm is listed in the constitution. STATE'S Powers are those rights NOT already listed in the constitution. So in reality all states that STOP a citizen from carrying are actually unconstitutional, but getting BS lawyers/politicians to correct this is another thing. You see, THEY like to disarm you, and WE keep re-electing these NON-CONSTITUTIONAL representatives/senators.Originally posted by ridgerunner View PostI respectfully disagree. It is an individual right, and anything less, is an infringement of that right. I guess many people are not as free as they think they are, because "no free man shall be ........."
Case in point is the current law in Texas a CoP has to sign off on my Class III license/permit, problem is NONE of them will. Why? They LIKE to disarm us and take away our rights the moment we give them the power to decide.
Look at Maryland, they claim to have a CC law. But in reality they don't. 99% of the permits are to active and retired POLICE OFFICERS, and the other 1% is issued ONLY as limited permits. That is you can carry to and from work but not to the mall shopping or what have you. They also have a requirement for NON-POLICE personnel: 1) must deal with a cash business and carry in excess of $10,000 regularly, or 2) have a court order showing your life has been threatened by someone... that's right you have to PROVE you need to carry in Maryland, and even then (as stated above) the majority are DECLINED by the Sheriff's Office. But on the books, they are a CC state, HOGWASH!!

[QUOTE=Not_Yet_Prepped;30181]Vincent,
Maybe today they are saying that but still it is a states right...
And if they set the precedent that they are controlling it, what is next?
In the UK it was:
1. We want you to add your guns to a list voluntarily so that if they get stolen and then recovered we can get them back to you the rightful owner.
2. Then it was any new gun purchased must be registered.
3. Then mandated that all your guns are registered, if you go to a club and shoot they must check the gun to see if it is registered.
4. Once majority had registered then it was handguns are bad and you can not have them

I guess i should clarify, my personal belief it is an individual right granted first by God to individuals, He gave us the right and responsibility to defend ourselves. Which i believed was recognised by our founding fathers and was enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
It is clearly not a ferderal government, if it belong to anyone it is a States Rights issue at best.
