  • Will Washington's Failures Lead To Second American Revolution?

I found this interesting in that it was written at an Investors website.

    http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnal...volution-.aspx

The Internet is a large-scale version of the "Committees of Correspondence" that led to the first American Revolution

A good book to read about this is The Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck. It's set in China, and describes VERY well what happens when the divide between the Have's and Have Nots gets too wide. That was many, many years ago, but people are still people.

I wonder though about where the first indicators will come from. We like to think that it will happen at the national level, but intuitively, I don't think so. I think it will happen a LOT closer to home than that, and Washington D. Ceit will be in a catch-up situation once again. Watch the national, but study the local.

Bearman - you are right about Buck's book "The Good Earth". I reread it last year. I had not thought of it in term of our society. It' true that the behavior of people regarding the famine could happen right here in the USA. Also the brutality of the government forces toward the people is entirely possible.

I believe in the American people and the American spirit. After all, our ancesters came to a wild and dangerous place back in the 1600s when they established the colonies. I firmly believe that as a people, we can do anything. The question is - do we have the WILL?

I believe that if the 2010 and 2012 elections do not change the players in Washington, we as a nation will unravel. Baby Boomers born after WWII have lived in the most affluent society on earth. Most of us got TV in the late 40's. Most of us got air conditioning in the late 50's. In the 60's, we gave our children private princess phones and a car to drive. We pampered our offspring and they theirs. In the U.S. we have 3 generations who have never known REAL hardship. I fear that when the bad times come, the WILL to save our country will not be there.

Will all sincerity I say GOD BLESS THE USA.

My thoughts are that we do not have "FOUNDERS" anymore, nor do we have the will of the people... Besides people that frequent places like this, the "other people" I know want SECURITY and PROVISION, and many look to government to provide that.

I remember even the "Tea Party" people calling for a removal of the Electoral College... I thought they were NUTS!

So who do we have except a few internet members?

They want security and provision, but like you said they want someone else to provide for it. They don't want to do the hard work and provide for themselves. Problem is, these are the same people that will want what we have. They will form a "quasi local government" and will pass bogus laws that will try and take things from us. I said TRY and take it from us!!

This is the scenerio that I worry about the most. I can foresee a time when a sherriff or other designated official would go door to door, collecting whatever you have, armed with "official" papers authorizing them to do it. The real slugs out there who won't lift a leg to help themselves will be demanding that it happen. The question is just how much force are you willing to use to prevent that from happening? Keeping in mind, with that paper it would allow them to raise up in righteous indignation and call in the troops to level your house. This is the best argument I've heard yet about having a bolt hole in a cave somewhere....

I have a hard time understanding how this will go down without a large window of warning, less some type of disaster, where "authorities" go door to door looking for injured or casualties, then marking your door with spray paint as "cleared." Katrina-style... Otherwise, for those rural, it seems to me that we would know they were coming, as the first ones to get it would be the city dwellers, unless one was REPORTED as a "hoarder." Then, they may show up quickly, with no warning...
