  • are you one of those Christians?

here's a "what if?" warning... gets a little crude at the end..

what if our country decided that Christians violated hate thought and speech
and that the idea of Biblical references to sodomites
and that there was an exclusive path to the hereafter was nonconforming and rejected other faiths and was hateful to others. --
    --hmm.
of course no self respecting educated civilized country where the folks could read and write and do numbers would ever do something like that... or would they... or have they in the past.
would or has a country in the past outlawed judaism or Chrisianity...
germany? iran, egypt, many muslim countries, the list might go long.
    --
so here's the scenario. it happens here in a few small steps.
then the authorities come to your house because they heard you were a suspected terrorist
on the homeland security force watch list...
    and ask you.
    "are you a Christian?"
and you are the sole bread winner for your family. so you mumble a "no" because you don't want to go sit in jail for 6 months waiting for your trial.
    then you get asked
    "do you support Christian activities?"
(this was part of the official code of the new law of the land)
"it shall be illegal and considered a felony to support any organization which has been declared a terrorist organization by the head of the Homeland defense Dept.." . who is himself a
"devout Muslim" BUT not a Christian.
and you mumble no again, because your wife lost her job at the State dept of education, because she was seen bowing her head before she ate, and it offended the newly hired indonesian who felt her rights were violated.
    --
lying to an Officer of the law. is against the law..
the officer pulls out his copy of your last 4 years tax records and points out that
you took a tax deduction under donations for contributing to the local
    Catholic charity hospital,
    the Gideons,
    the Red cross,
    and the Salvation army.
making you a criminal in the eyes of the Homeland Defense Force.
that's 4 charges plus lying to the Officer with witnesses.

so... here are your choices -- plead down to only the four donations and get a year each, plus a 10,000 dollar fine each, or risk a trial with double the consequences.
    --
    what if it happened here?
what if a law was passed that no felon could recieve any government benefit of any type?
(no welfare, no retirement, no social security, no food stamps)
    --
    so,
    my friend,
what if it were against the law to be a Christian or a Jew in the u.s.a. or support a Christian organization.
would you deny and add a charge to your list of offenses or confess and go quietly...
who would care for your family while you were gone?

(by the way, just so you know, the sodomite who you caught messing with little boys at the Church youth retreat, and you got him fired, is the guy that reported you to the homeland defense dept.)
the HDS guys asked him if he was a Christian, and he got off.
his answer was "heck no.. i just got me a job down there to make big bucks and be around those little kids! heck, you guys ought to go sign up. they fired me, so there's an opening now.
they got a lot of teenie boppers over at that church. the parents think it is great that the leaders like to hug and scrub on their little sexy daughters... "

I don't want to burn in hell for all eternity so I pray that I have the strength to stand for My God.
I agree with Ellittle, I hope and pray I would not deny Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

I pray that I will have the conviction to stand up for the Lord, however no one can truthfully answer that question until the time comes. It's easy to sit here at the computer and say of course I'll stand up.

I think the real point is that we must STAND UP before they get to our door... We must STAND UP for others Christian or NOT...

If you do not stand for your neighbor today then who will stand for you tomorrow. Because if they are at your neighbors door today they will be at your door tomorrow.

                good responses.. thanks.

i also wanted to hit the question of...
if there is a reasonable chance that this scenario were to come about...
what are a few things that i could do today and next month to help me and mine to better
                stand in those days.
                for example.
i now attend a Christian gathering that meets in a small building with a steep asbestos roof and walls of heavy granite. we have a nice lighted sign outside.
and it's on the main thoroughfare.

for many years i attended a Christian gathering that met in folks living rooms and dens.
there was no huge sign out front that advertised the preacher's name or gave times of services.

it was very personal. it meant more to me than any other fellowship before or after. in survival terms
we did "meet and greets" and campfires and mutual aid groups and community projects.
i make the case that my old Fellowship would stand stronger and survive persecution better than my current.
for one huge reason. we were "off the radar."

                something to consider.

this is another reason to prep.

i think there are some scriptures that Christians will turn on Christ followers,
                    that some will be taken

and that you will be visiting folks in jail, etc..
and it's not just Christians that the power will be going after...
the very civilized germans went after out spoken folks, political leaders, sodomites, gypsies,
jews, anyone that didn't "toe the line." etc...

so... if the only way to protect your family and your faith is to say yes... and be taken...
and you are marched off to the jail house...
wouldn't it be comforting to know that groceries are hidden in the shed out back for the family.

another reason to prep.. regardless of your faith or no faith.

Of course there is an alternative solution to the original problem and it requires the application of the three S's. Something I recall about millstones, necks and deepest parts of the sea as suitable for that type.
On the other hand, we really have no excuse to deny our faith, when pressed. The worst that the enemy can do is to kill us and we will be with our Savior immediately. They can't win and we can't lose.
For those who have not read Foxe's Book of Martyrs, seek it out and read it. It was the companion to the Bible for the Pilgrims who came to establish the Plymouth colonies.
I fear that many will deny their faith because they cannot face the trials and tribulations to come. In China, after the communists took over in the late 40's, they forced the "believers" to deny their faith or be killed. Most denied their faith because they reasoned that their faith was wrong. Wrong in the sense that they had been told by the western missionaries that they would be raptured before the tribulations, and they were obviously in tribulation. They were taught a lie and it cost them their faith. Today, believers in China number more than 100 million, and they would surely die rather than deny their faith. They know the cost, and they question western believers as to how they are facing chastisement, for scripture says that He chastises those whom He loves. The west has been sold a faulty faith for too long, and the result will be bad.
                      III We are everywhere.

Wow... tough scenario. It's easy for me, sitting here happy and safe with a roof over my head and $$ in the bank, to state that I would never deny my Lord and Saviour. But if thugs were to knock on my door about being a Christian and I knew the price to pay would be the suffering of my wife and kids due to my incarceration... I'm afraid I would crumble like Peter did. I just don't know if I would be strong enough.
