We got a pretty significant rumble in our little NE town. Probably an aftershock. I had never felt an earthquake before, but my hubby who lived in California knew right away what it was.
Hope my fellow Okies are safe and healthy. God bless.Still Prepping and Learning, Every Day, A Little At A Time

Comm, I hear this all the time and it might be a whole new thread discussion. #1 I aint got no one to talk to right now, working on it with some good folks but they got none either
#2 People I know with HAM seem to spend a huge amount of time messin with it and it seems to break alot and they seem to have alot of antenna trouble, with them blowing out? i think, dunno, aint got much "spare" time right now
#3 My commo expeience comes from the Military which truthfully does me little to zero good for what we have availible

Yep, I'm good. Was off grid for a little bit getting moved and just got back on the grid today. I felt the first one right as I was heading to bed and sounded like the impact from a rocket in the house. Everything was okay. The 10 PM one I didn't even feel as I was in Stillwater working the OSU football game. A nuclear blast could have gone off and nobody would have noticed.Originally posted by brokedownbiker View PostDoesn't Grand live in that area as well? Anybody heard from him?
The next one (Monday I believe) I was at work and thought it was some bad wind as I was in my patrol car. It rocked the car pretty good a couple of times and set off some alarms around the base, but nothing seriously damaged.
Lucky enough my house was built in 47...back when they actually put houses together to last and all. No damages I can find except maybe a little crack in the tile in the shower. Gas lines are fine and the electrical was fine. Center beam was G2G and the basement supports didn't budge an inch. Matt's right, I don't want to play this game lol I just bought a house and don't want it demolished before I've even lived here a month!Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

hey WiseOwl there an app for that
New iPhone app Earthquake Buddy could help save lives in earthquakes.
Developed by Australian programming group The App Collective, Earthquake Buddy is intended to assist rescue services in locating victims amidst earthquake carnage, like the 7.4-magnitude tremor that hit Guatemala leaving at least 52 people dead, more injured and thousands without power.
Once downloaded, users enter their own details and those of four friends or family members in order to become their “buddies.”
If the app user is within an earthquake zone registering over 5.5, Earthquake Buddy instantly sends those buddies an e-mail with a Google map of the user’s location.
Elected buddies can choose to receive a Tweet, an SMS and a Facebook post with the same details.
Quakes can lead to power and cellular outages; Earthquake Buddy is designed to send a message before the quake’s damages can cause such outages.
The app is useful not just for people living in earthquake-prone areas like the West Coast, but also for those who travel particularly in earthquake hotspots such as Asia.
The United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program estimates that although many go unreported due to their remote location or low magnitude, every year there are several million earthquakes in the world. The National Earthquake Information Center identifies approximately 50 earthquakes a day.
In addition to earthquake survival tips, it also provides bright flashlight type functionality to assist you after a quake strikes and power is lost.
The company is targeting organizations like the United Nations, the World Bank’s disaster management arm, and the World President’s Organization to disseminate the app.
Earthquake Buddy is currently available for $4.99 from the iPhone App Store in English, Spanish, and Japanese, with the Android version launching soon.

You'll be surprised at the modern technology when you do upgrade. They did away with that big circle thingy and you no longer have to ask Sarah to put you through to who you want to talk to. :DOriginally posted by Matt In Oklahoma View PostI dont have one either but posted it for them that do and are interested.
