So about 2am I let the dog out and went back to sleep. I woke a few minutes later thinking in my stupor "man that chopper is flyin low". Then I snapped into reality realizin there was no rotor wash and that the noise was coming from the windowsill, shelves and back porch. I got up and my son met me in the hallway saying "Dad is that an earthquake?" It ended then.
We checked the house and later I checked the pipes and gas pipes. I told him if it happens again we get everyone out to the pasture, grab blankets. He says why the pasture. I tell him cause there aint nothing to fall on ya out there.
4.8 on the scale

reason #4007 to keep it together and have plans. Nothing like living in a panic free zone knowing I have what is needed as well as the skills to make it through even if we only make it to the pasture with near nothing.

We are all good here. The epicenter town had water pipe and wellhouse damage so them folks could use some prayer but thank God no injuries

Earthquake woke me up once a few years back when I lived in Atlanta, at first I thought it was an exceptionally low 747 on the approach to Hartsfield.

hahahaha we watched a metorite hit the ground just south of us the 2nd morning of blackpowder. Think there was a meteror shower of some kind going on. LOL

I heard about the quakes in OK, and my first thought was, "Wow, what's Matt doing now?" LOL! I lived on Okinawa for 18 months, and it was there that I learned a very valuable lesson about having a bookshelf above the bed. Don't. Earthquakes are routine there. They still freak you out, even after you've been through a few of them, though. The earth isn't supposed to shake, dang it.

Wow man, yall broke a record with that one...you go from tornaders to droughts to earthquakes to what next? Good thing you have that plan book buddy!

The early morning quake woke me up but it was so subtle I didn't know what it was until later that morning. The later evening quake we deffinately felt as the Miss's and me had just crawled into bed. At the moment it hit the heater had came on and my first thought was the blower assembly was coming apart. Then I realized that, that wouldn't make the bed shake..

Just some rumbleing and shaking no damage as of yet.

Like Matt said. If you are in a bad quake the best place to be is out of a structure and away from something that could tip over and fall on you.

Here in Little Axe, Oklahoma we shook for about a minute. We live in a large mobile home and they are built different from stationary homes. as they have to be moved by wheels once removed they are placed on blocks and tied down by straps. They take movement of the ground much better. Being totally electric we didn't have to worry about gas leaks. After it stopped I checked the water pressure and found it still good. This morning I checked under the trailer and found everthing still intact. Checked the well house and everything was okay. They say it was felt as far away as Wisconsin. Scared hell out of the wife though. Its been many years since I left Kommifornia where they happen quite regular.
