What was that "entry point" and "District of Columbia" stuff that tickered across the top of the screen? And then it went into Espanol

I didn't get my FEMA alert! What gives here? I came in the house and watched TV to get my FEMA Alert and nothing happened? I guess the folks here in Arkansas don't rate high enough for a FEMA Alert! Does that mean we can't depend on FEMA to even alert us when everything goes south? Man! That's a shock. I guess we can't depend on FEMA to come swooping in within minutes and save us from disaster. I mean if they can't even yell "Watch out!" at us, how are they going to immediately get us some water, food, medicine? I am so surprised, and I am devastated. (A little sarcasm here.) Sure glad I have a bottle of water and some pb&J sandwiches saved up!

We had announcements of this on Ontario radio stations for the last 2 days. Strange that your stations did not pre warn you!

I flipped around the tv while listening to the weather radio.
tv had some stuff for like 45 seconds, wx radio had NOTHING, even though 5 minutes before the drill they announced they would have the drill.
              lol.

The whole test was a snafu. Many states had a double warning go out so it was garbled. In my state 85% of the stations on tv and radio didn't even get the message. A test gone horribly wrong.

I can't believe I am still soooo naive.

Well, I actually thought that I was doing everyone a favor by posting (DAYS in advance) the information about the nationwide emergency test. I was concerned about the stated "3 1/2 minutes of complete disruption of all tv and radio transmissions". All I heard was about 5 seconds of "beeeeep", and I saw a banner on the bottom of the TV screen saying "This is a test..." Same on radio. Nothing else. No explanation.

I was sure that with months (years??) of preparation to replace the old test, it would be something dramatic or at least professionally done. I'm an idiot. How could I have allowed myself to expect competency?

Now, more than ever before, I am determined to become self-sufficient. If this is the best FEMA can do to alert the public, I am scared.

Not only that but many locations did not even get the test...

FEMA does not work it should be the 3rd government branch to closed.

I have large part of my family on the gulf coast in Mississippi. Most Americans think Katrina hit New Orleans but flooding hit New Orleans, Katrina wiped the coast of Mississippi clean. Most in MS lost everything but they did not moan and ask for hand-outs they went about cleaning up and getting back to normal as possible. It was an amazing the constrast between New Orleans (mostly simple flood damage) and Waveland (shore to 1 mile inland pretty much totally gone) then after the 1 mile you still had lots of flood damage. One of the banks 1 block from the coast was totally gone. The only thing left was the foundation and the vault. The vault so badly damaged the access door was ajar.

The people of MS did not wait for help they helped themselves but the many people of New Orleans are still waiting for help (ie a hand out). Go through life like help is NOT coming and you will be much happier/safer. If help comes great that makes things easier but not count on it.
