Seems kinda pricey to me at $36.95 for vitamin C alone.

Would it be possible to pack vitamins yourself at home?

I take a multi vitamin a day and supplement that with extra vitamin C and D in the cold/flu season.

I would get the multi-vitamin for $3.00 more. The multi-vitamin is same shelf life according to their own data, and the multi has 100% recommended daily dose of Vit C... just saying...

sams has 500 count, 500 mg ( same as shown) Vitc/rose hips etc. for under 16$.
            figure 2-5$ for mylar/o2's........

but then again im a cheap wad LMAO...

i ate a vitmin that was 3 years past it used by date......that was last week....im still here LOL.

shelf life is what gets me...but again. im not a dr. so i cant say how well some vit/minerals will last .
i can only say from what i have put up that, they used to have a 2-4 years helf life from teh factory ( my source for them)..2-3 years back, they took off all exp/best by dates. why i cant say. So i hold on the 2-3 years after purchase then rotate. Only way to be sure is on my next packing day is make some experiment batches and test over the next few years.

The whole expiration date debate.... I posted this link on a thread once before: http://www.survivinghealthy.com/?page_id=27

Next time you go to your doc ask him...if he don't know ask your local pharmacist.

I might just repack some from Sams in mylar and O2.

I have been thinking some about this too... I know that I dont have enough food stored much less enough "healthy" food stored... Roman Needles are great for basic food to cost ratio but they will not sustain one over long term without supplements.

Vitamin C is one of the best things to store supplement wise IMO.

We eat a LOT of "old" storage food the first year here. That was also the year my wife was pregnant. I made sure she took her vitamins well. Those Natachew pre-natal vitamins are a JOKE! Read the description and quantities on them and you'll see what I mean.

I had her taking a couple of grams of Vitamin C a day along with Iron, Calcium, B12, a multi, etc. I doubt the vitamins had everything to do with it, but people at the hospital marveled that a 2 day old baby could hold his own head up and not have the "floppy baby" deal. That was right after I pulled him out of the egg looking spacecraft from outer space. He seems to not do well around Kryponite though.... LOL

This is good stuff, I'm going to order a mixed case. CHEAP INSURANCE folks, cheap insurance!!!

Vitamin C? Learned this from Bear Grylls & "Man, Woman, Wild"... Pine Needle tea has a huge amount of Vit-ah-min C (Bear Brit accent)...

What makes these vitamins any different than the ones found in huge bottles at Sam's or Costco, besides the metal can?

I was talking with my wife last night about this subject. And although she is not a pharmacist, she is a Care Provider with a Doctorate degree. She said the only thing that happens to medicine after the expiration date is that they begin to become less potent. In other words, eventually you would have to take additional amounts to get the same result.

I'm not a doctor, I have never played one on television, and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn last night. So please don't hold my reply as gospel ;-)

If measured by weight my understanding is that Pine Needles have 5 times the amount of vitamin c as a lemon (again per ounce). So drink up that pine needle "tea"!

Pine Needle tea works and is effective. It gives you a lil jolt. We used to drink it on cold morning camping and it even clears that groggyness feeling after sitting around a fire and inhaling that smoke all night. It has a minty taste. Just make sure you wipe the needles down good before you boil, even though bugs are just more protein :)
