I'm 56, and I'm about half-way through a Master's program in Counseling. It's something I've always wanted to do, and I'm good at it. I think that's the key. Find what you do best, and do that. I'm going to come out of this owing my soul to the govt. from student loans, but frankly, I don't care. I have to have the degree to do the work, so that's what I'm doing. If you don't have an undergraduate degree, you can get Pell grants. That's based on income, not on age. My daughter is getting them and they are paying the entire cost of tuition and most of the cost of books. i.e. she plans on coming out with a B.A. and ZERO debt. She got her A.A. at a community college, then transferred over to a 4-year. At the community college, the Pell grant paid for everything and actually left her money after it was all paid. She was making money going to college. Make sure you check ALL financial aid if you do go to college, because some of them aren't advertised, and can result in significant bux. Good luck, and remember, you're never too old to learn!
