  • Things that will be missed in the PAW.

I have been thinking about this lately. Ya know, if everything went to S.

I dont know if this has been a thread before or not, if it has I apologize.

I have been mentioning some of these things to my wife and she agrees, and also has her own.

I will preface this by saying these are things that I would miss but some folks might still have. I am not using the "what I want and might have" but the "what I have now and what I am working with in the present."

Some may seem silly, but hey I am a silly guy.

    Enjoy

Ice and Ice Cream, basic refrigeration
    Pizza
    Fantasy Football and the NFL
    Soda
    A really good Beer
    The Interweb
My kids wearing clothes that fit
    New Shoes (Wife)
    Power Tools

    And AIR CONDITIONING!

I didn't want to go get too crazy with some or elaborate even more because I may take some of your ideas. Most of these are considered luxury items to some. But they sure are nice. As I progress as a prepper I will not only acquire the knowledge and resources to have "some" of this stuff but may even learn to live without it completely. Most if this I myself could live without if I HAD TO, but I have a wife, a 4yr old and a 4 month old, so its a group thing.

Would love to hear some of yalls!

Peace. The ability to occasionally let your guard down a little bit.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

I second the peace and red wine, and would add coffee (after my stash is gone), and necessary prescription medicines that my family and many others require on a daily basis.
            "Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

My UT Vols kicking the crap outa whomever faces them on the field. Simply the greatest team in college football. :D

Honestly, I kind of wrote about this before. I know there are things I will miss, but at the same time, there will probably be different things I enjoy to take their place. A simpler time I suppose. And the fact I don't know I miss it yet kind of clouds the idea for me. I've been deployed into some crappy environments before so I'm used to doing "without" creature comforts. I guess you just learn to deal with it more over time.

But yeah, ice cream is on that list as well lol

                  I agree 100% ......except the UT thing...lol...
If my kids were older I think the transition would be easier to a bad situation. But, you are right, you will find other things to occupy your time.

I think I would miss the internet mostly. I'm constantly going to it to search out information on some subject that caught my fancy. Also, I get a lot of emails from all over the country from old friends. I'd really miss knowing what's going on in their lives.

I agree with slingshot. But more broadly, the ability to quickly find information. Whether it comes from the net, books, or simply people that know alot of information will simply die in the PAW

Watching my kids grow up without a care in the world. I hope the collapse is far enough off that they can grow up without being robbed of their childhood.

I'll miss my daughter. She is a Type I diabetic and cannot survive without insulin. We can only stockpile so much. So if things really do head south bad enough we can't obtain insulin it'll destroy my wife and I to watch her go. It isn't a pleasant thought but she will die w/o insulin. After that everything else seems a little trivial.
