This is pretty cool. Watching them take modern folks and set them up as cave(people).....Its funny to listen to people whine about I'm Hungry after the first day.....

I have Tivo'd the first 2 episodes to re watch and see if there is anything to learn.

Have to catch it on DVD after they come out.

Did "The Walking Dead" make it back for a 2nd season?
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

I am watching it right now. The best thing is...
There are no aliens in this show. And oh yeh, they're hungry already (at least the one that wont eat fish with a head on it...lol).

      And 1Admin,
I believe I heard "Walking Dead" was back.

Caught a bit last night.....ehhhh. Watching them try to make fire was educational to say the least.

I know it's a reality show, but some of them had the "I'm lazy and you do everything for me" attitude. What a bunch of whiners, if you are hungry, thirsty, and cold, get off your dead lazy butt and do something about it. In a true survival situation most of them would have died in 10 days or less.

I watched it and was disappointed but not surprised. Two of the 'contestants'(?) whined and dropped out because it was too hard. Actual reality is difficult, what a shocker!

A few of the group were really putting their heart into it, making fire, hunting, actually trying to make it; I was impressed that they were able to take down a elk with an atlatl. But half the group spent the entire show sitting on their behinds while the other half did all the work (sounds like the general population, huh?). All the 'peace, love, and harmony' they were spouting was hard to take, but that seems to be the mindset of the younger folks these days.

It paints a pretty sad picture of how the average person or group would fare in a true survival situation, but I doubt that many of the folks watching it will get that lesson from it.

It was hilarious when that black girl complained about them killing that elk. Ummm, hello woman, you now have food....but she said she would just eat plants....

Yeah, hitting that elk with that atlatl was pretty awesome.

Dude I'll buy you a steak dinner if that bunch killed that Elk. They couldnt sneak up on a baloney sandwich! LOL I missed it but I will go back and see the "kill", did they actually show it with the spear flying and hitting it?
They pretty much lost me at 2 women laying around complaining like "survivor" trying to be eye candy. If i'm a caveman, which i guess i am, then your gonna earn it or get clubbed. Cavemen had 3 catagories for other people: Useful-Edible-Destroyed

Glad somebody else caught this. I was in a hotel and happened upon it. Made me remember why I opt not to have TV at home.

The elk part was just BS. The one dude was a self described "bow hunter" but was apparently unfamiliar with advanced hunting concepts and variables like "wind," "a clean and respectful death" and "using the whole animal."

I was actually pissed off at how it played out. Yeah, that dude speared the animal (assuming he did--that was one hell of a shot) but the rest was appalling. His response? "As soon as I knew we had hit the elk, I knew we had to immediately run after it." What? Then they're all standing around this dying bull which is wheezing and clearly suffering, and the chick spears it in the spine! "Great shot." The elk is still wheezing, so the last guy gets lucky and spears it through the lungs. They then field dress the animal triumphantly, only to LEAVE THE HIND QUARTERS and walk away.

Maybe I'm an old school hunter but I would have like to see some semblance of respect for such a magnificent creature as a bull elk.

The elk kill was terribly wasteful, I think I would have at least lashed together a travois to haul back the bulk of the meat, not to mention the hide and the antlers. Of course, I'd have trapped that muskrat and roasted his butt long before, instead of throwing rocks at it; they were idiots, IMHO.

Like all TV we only see what they want us to, the rest goes on the editing room floor.

I just got a chance to see this. It really wasn't much for insight into cavemen's lives (as by definition, such living cavepeople would have skills and norms of behavior suitable to survival). But it was I think a good insight into what a severe TSHTF situation would be like if you tried to cooperate with a random group (co-workers, neighbors, even unrepared family). Think about it, the particpants in this experiement had chosen to participate, knew it was coming, and when, and new that it would end after 10 days. They also knew they would safely walk away at any time. Now take random people, who didn't voluinteer, and remove all the foreknowledge. Yikes.

As far as the elk waste is concerned, by the time they killed the elk, they only had a day and a half left. So it was wasteful, but they knew there was more meat there than they could use. Hopefully the camera crew/producers packed up the rest and had a barbeque themselves.

I'd much prefer to see an experiment with folks who had gone through some longer term training, perhaps somes hands-on on short outings, followed by a MUCH longer attempt to survive like 3 months (or a full year).

And yes, the so-called "bowhunter" seemed to know little about hunting, and I'm hardly an expert myself. At least he was working.

I don't think any of them would make it long. The ones sitting around all the time would not have been eating unless they earned it.

My favorite comment was when the one guy said "why should I bust my butt all day to bring back food for these women who are doing nothing but sitting on their butts" ... couldn't help but think Ya, but I bet he voted for Hussein and will continue to vote democrat even after his brush with the "entitlement" mentality up and personal .....
