  • The Justice Department authorizing the lethal targeting of American Citizens

This guy was a bad dued to be sure and I'm glad he is dead but it raises the question that is all it takes for the federal government to order the killing of US citizens declaring them a terror threat?

I don't like the president that this sets

The guy was way up on several "better off dead" lists, but the part that bothers me a lot is the idea of conducting air strikes in countries that we're not at war with. I mean, some countries get offended by that kind of stuff, even though we were taking out one of our own citizens. Are we so impervious now that we can strike anyone, anywhere? Let's try an air strike in Russia, or China, and see what happens. I guess if we stick with third-world countries we'll be okay, huh? Notice that nobody in the MSM commented on the fact that we were conducting military operations in a country that we're not at war with....yet. Do they not get it? Do they get it and just not care?

That operation was conducted with the cooperation of the host country. We do not just go into a country and conduct this type of operation without the cooperation of the host country.

While they may not know what we are doing most times due to security, they have approved operations in the host country.

Sorry, I can't agree that this was a bad operation. Americans relinquish their Constitutional freedoms when they leave this country and then advocate for the overthrow of our way of life. Even worse, this dirtbag advocated the killing of Americans at home and abroad. Don't like the present administration, but they got this one exactly right. Ron Paul has it wrong; just try and "arrest" these maniacs and see what happens.

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

Yeah, never mind. We'll just bury these along with the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 9th, 10th...

Cooperation and approval are two vastly different ideas. Pakistan and Osama is a huge example of this. Sure, they might have approved operations within their country some years ago, but surely didn't authorize us to do what we did. Hence the diplomatic situation we are in right now with them.

And to clarify, I'm pretty darn happy that silly S-O-B is dead and wholeheartedly approve what we did. Just saying we don't always have the approval or cooperation of the host nation.

I'm quite sure there is communication in place and a standing deal that we'll go after whomever and they will publicly denounce it to look good with other Muslims knowing any terrorist could choose to operate against their country as well.

Secret panel can put Americans on "kill list'

American militants like Anwar al-Awlaki are placed on a kill or capture list by a secretive panel of senior government officials, which then informs the president of its decisions, according to officials.

There is no public record of the operations or decisions of the panel, which is a subset of the White House's National Security Council, several current and former officials said. Neither is there any law establishing its existence or setting out the rules by which it is supposed to operate.

The panel was behind the decision to add Awlaki, a U.S.-born militant preacher with alleged al Qaeda connections, to the target list. He was killed by a CIA drone strike in Yemen late last month.

The role of the president in ordering or ratifying a decision to target a citizen is fuzzy. White House spokesman Tommy Vietor declined to discuss anything about the process.

This whole thing doesn't pass the niff test

Obama was 100% against this kind of thing when he was running for Pres - and now there are secret panels and death warrants?

Why is it that no matter who gets elected its the same old story - I wonder who is really pulling the strings

I don't think anyone running for President would advocate this sort of thing as it would lessen the number of potential votes that they may receive in order to win the top prize. However, once they are on the job, and they realize that this has already been put in place by the previous administrations, then its easy to support this. In regards to who is pulling the strings, I can only assume that its those generals and elected officials who've been in place for the past 10, 20, or 30 years prior to each President being elected.

Why is this even suprising when we have Wayco and Ruby Ridge? Maybe it was just the movies but didn't we have wanted dead or alive posters on criminals a long time ago? Iam sure if this guy wanted to he could have his day in court,he could just turn himself in. I think my point is they can do this to any of us anytime they want, just invent a good story, no wait a minute after watrching the gun walker thing it does'nt have to be good. Any real freedoms we once had are all but gone.
