Just to make sure I understand this. They want someone who doesn't use their "product" to help pay for it? Isn't that kind like asking gardeners to pay the grocery stores for "lost revenue"?

Got a feeling this is just the beginning of a lot of senseless taxes and fees.

LOL an elderly woman at work today said she found out her premiums were going up for her Medicare Part D (prescriptions) next year, she complained and complained. So I told her it is just the beginning, insurance companies will have to raise everybody's premiums to help pay for the obamacare that allows people with pre-conditions to bankrupt insurance companies, so they return fire by raising everybody else's premium to help offset their losses. To which she replied: oh ok, that is fine they need somebody to help take care of them poor people.

Sometimes you can lead a horse to water and the dang thing will just stand there and not drink. **bonks head against wall until it makes sense**

As things continue to decline in this country, expect more and more senseless taxes and rules to be applied.

Haaaaaa haaaaaaa. They are going to tax the sh!t out of you. Literally. It's beyond ridiculous, but probably going to get worse. If they can tax you simply to give that money to someone else, there is no limit. Remember what our ruler had to say when someone pointed out that government revenue usually goes up, when taxes on the wealthy go down? He wants to raise taxes to make things more "fair." Soooooo, it starts from the top and rolls down. Politicians learn quickly that people might complain a little, but that is it. Why should it matter if you don't use their services? You pay taxes, which go to government schools, whether or not you use those services. Seems like I remember some kind of revolution, somewhere, at some time, which occurred in part, due to unreasonable taxes.

The problem is Bull, we allowed it to muster too long. I mean seriously, how many of you get paid a starting salary of $60,000 a year AND get 4 months off out of the same year EVERY year? enough said...

[[ oh if you do that mathematically, that is like saying you get $90,000 a year but do not get paid for your time off ]]

Taxes are our burden to bare apparently. Take for example property tax, I own my 40acres free and clear, no debt. I have insurance, but that's an option. If I don't pay property tax, guess what, I'm no longer a property owner and said property is sold on court house steps. In my rural county, our few commissioners are usually one term office holders, because they can't operate within their budget. So, they raise the millage rate. My property has been devalued the last two years and the amount of tax I owe has increased. I only have about 2 more years before retirement, I'm looking for options for relocation. The tax burden where ever I go will definately be an influincial factor. My vent for the morning. Thanks

Klayton - I agree. We haven't been nearly vigilant enough.

huckridge - It's too bad the situation is like that. When you purchase property, you basically purchase the right to start renting it from the government. You don't pay the rent, and you get the boot. That sucks. I understand that taxes have to be collected for various purposes, but I'm more in favor of consumption type taxes. I think once you have earned the money you need to buy something, you should own it without stipulation. Even if you had to pay a toll on every road, or something to that effect, you would have the choice to sit at your property and never have it taken away. Not that I'm for tolls on every road, but I think there is a better way to collect taxes for fire departments, police, road maintenance, etc.
