    On a related note

Below is a story on Fox News . com about discussions of eliminating the federal board of education. The article that WiseOwl Presents is another good example of why we need to get the government out of education.

Wow isn't the first thought that came to mind when I read that first article. My first words uttered are banned on network television and typically get your mouth washed out with soap.

And furthermore, I cannot believe it came out of Georgia. Right in the middle of the Bible Belt of all things. Middle East studies my behind. So much for the liberals wanting all education out of the school systems. I guess this is perfectly fine since it isn't Christianity. Perfectly acceptable to tout Islam as being just fine, but we CAN'T teach the Ten Commandments or have school prayer. Oh, that's just WRONG of us to show preferential treatment to one religion over another (except in the case of Islam).

I'm not from Georgia, but I'd be darn sure I contacted my representatives down there and let them know exactly what I thought of this little homework assignment.

This is from Cobb county which is inside the metro area which is mainly progressive.....get outside of that area and it is the bible belt...lol.

My wife is a senior at Mercer to become a teacher next fall and the more and more of this crap she sees, the more she is applying to private schools for employment...yeah, we will take the pay cut just to have a little bit more freedom from the BOE and their BS.

We have been real lucky. My wife was recruited from the university she graduated from with her Masters (she went on to get her Doctorate from a different private college . The college is a private Christian college and they will only allow people (students and professors) that can prove they are active in church. And they pay pretty darn good to boot.

With that said, I wish your wife the best of luck in finding a great teaching job. Our kids need teachers that have not been indoctrinated by the progressives. They are our only hope for the future of our once great country :-(

Amen, I agree 100%! I will do everything I need to do to make sure my kids are not indoctrinated by these people.

The public school system is a disaster. It is why we have these idiots in office right now. By the time kids graduate, they are void of critical thinking skills, the ability to use logic and reason, and filled with the proper attitude to distrust anything contrary to what they have been brainwashed with. The perfect little sheep the politicians want. Totally incapable of keeping the government in check, as it was intended to be. It is going to get progressively worse in the schools. I can't explain how happy I am for the folks who can homeschool their children. Private schools would be the next best thing after that.

Bull, I agree. I encourage everyone that I can to homeschool their children. The vast majority of them say that they "can't". Personally I think that most of them just don't want to make the sacrifice.

Technically, for one who believes in OT/NT Scriptures as the "Owner's Manual" for our existence here, a strong argument can be made for "permissible" polygamy... Many patriarchs and Godly men had multiple wives. But what is IDEAL and what is PERMISSIBLE are two different things, and very few "Western / American" women would co-exist with another wife... LOL!

The polygamy is one thing, but the whole issue of conditioning (or a less political correct term of brainwashing) our students to believe Islam is perfectly okay, nothing's wrong with Islam, they are normal people, look at this woman, ignore the fact she is now number 5 on the list of wives, that's fine. Ignore the fact she can't vote in elections because she is deemed unworthy to choose the leaders of her nation. Look how happy she is wearing a burqa and being robbed of her individuality. Ignore the fact she probably was forced into this marriage since the practice of arranged weddings continues to this day in the Middle East. She gets stoned to death for being in public with someone outside of her family? Oh, that's just limited cases. She can't drive a car because the law prohibits it? Oh, that's just selected nations and their culture and besides, cab drivers need jobs too. She can't be educated? Well, there are a few women scholars in Islam...

I mean, ignore the convenient facts of how substandard women typically are in Islam and it's just a hunky dory religion.

And I don't care for the fact it's being...marginalized in our schools. Our children are being conditioned to believe the horrid treatment of women in Islam is perfectly acceptable. And how this relates to a school uniform? I would love to know what crack addict thought this one up and made the connection between a school uniform and wearing a burqa and niqab. Someone explain that one to me.

Sorry Rmpl, nothing against you, just my rant for the day against: Islam, our failing education system, politics, brainwashing, brainwashing in our schools...I think I covered everything.

                            Another example

The problem is the government dictating what is acceptable and what is not concerning religion in America. Below is another example. Vanderbilt University is telling a Christian student group that it can't restrict the group to just Christians. ???? Would they tell a muslim group that? That is one of the reasons that I say that we need to get the government out of education. They take the money from us through taxes then graciously offer to help with education as long as we play by their rules.
