The global wheat crop is encountering problems of biblical proportions, driving wheat prices to 13-month highs on Thursday morning.
This quote is from the above linked article which describes the world wide production of wheat. In the last paragraphs it also reporting a shortage of sugar.

Thanks for posting this. Should be an impetus for folks to get their wheat situation squared away if they have not yet done so.

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

I wish I had bees but I don't know enough about them yet and I believe I would be too afraid of them to take care of them well.

Speaking of wheat, does anyone have any experience with www.wheatsales.com or with any LDS sources. Thanks.

i'd never heard of them, but it looks like they sell mostly hard spring red, we use all hard winter white with a few hundred pounds on hard winter red also stored. most people like the flavor and color of the winter hard white.

No experience w/wheatsales.com, although when I checked them out their prices seemed kind of high. I order my wheat from a bulk food store and then pack it myself. I learned the red wheat keeps a lot longer than the white, but what's the difference between hard spring red and hard winter red?

Winter Wheat is planted in the winter and Spring Wheat is planted in the spring, hence the names. http://www.commodityseasonals.com/types_of_wheat.htm
Wheat: Red vs White; Spring vs WinterHome millers have definite preferences when it comes to wheat. Many favor hard spring wheat over winter wheat for it's somewhat higher protein value (and stronger gluten). Furthermore, some prefer the red variety for it's robust flavor while others prefer the milder taste of white.
