The State Department wants to down play this report so Americans won't worry about China's militarism. It's interesting that the report was released just after Biden left China. I'm dizzy for the spin this administration seems to enjoy using to it's failures.

LOL, the chicken hawks are at it again.. When faced with proposed budget cuts the neo-cons cook another story like this.. Look, China has been a superpower several times through history, it has been the dominated cultural and even political entity in East Asia, oh say for about 5,000 years, yes Japan and Korea are important, but China is the center of East Asia. China has a very different history than the U.S, China has been invaded many many times by foreign powers, so naturally there is a great deal of alarmism there. Japan and Taiwan are what keeps the PRC/PLA aggrivated every night, it was Japan that massacred millions of millions of Chinese in the 1930's and Taiwan is part of the country, the nationalist lost, too bad.. China is not an expansionist country at all, they wish to keep the foreign devils out of their nation, like they failed to do with the British. China will seldolm use direct military force in a foreign country, they are more about subversion, esponiage, selling arms to Iran etc.

The U.S has so many nukes it should not be scared of anyone, this is more of scare tactic to get more defense spending. Maybe the U.S can have troops one day in all the countries, maybe that will make the Neo-cons happy. It was a crack team of Neo-Cons that opened China in the First place(in this era) and have large campaign contributions from corporations that moved to China!!

there are far more important security issues facing the U.S, securing the border, getting off foreign oil, cutting are military presences in other rich nations, how about the rampant crime problem in the U.S, etc etc..

Deep, while I agree on the seriousness of the issues facing the U.S., I disagree with your assessment on China. First of all we are seriously in debt to China. They hold most of our debt, and we are paying China interest on that debt.

Your summary of China's history is correct. However, it is it's history. The revolution of China into 'red china' and the subsequence 3 generations of intense indoctrination have changed the mind set of the chinese. Mao's little red book is till the 'bible' of the Chinese government. To read the quotes in this little book go to http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Mao_Zed...k.29.281964.29

The content of the book seem militaristic to me. When someone says they are your enemy, believe them.

Do not think for one minute that China is our friend.
