BAK- kudos for having the best girlfriend ever!

I've completely given up on talking to my family and friends about prepping, it is a waste of time; they either don't WANT to face the possibility of their little world crumbling or they cannot fathom how "the government" could let something terrible like that happen. After years of trying and getting nowhere, I realized that I was just compromising my own security. The more people I talk to on the subject, the greater the chances that they will either show up at my place or tell someone else about my preps, putting me and mine at risk.

They are on their own as far as I'm concerned- "You can't save the whole planet but You might be able to save yourself and your (immediate) family"- comes to mind.

For convincing friends to prep, it can be a long process.

Just casual references are you need for those that are 'above' that.
References to cost of groceries. 'On my monthly trip, I noticed ____ was up almost $_.__ each.'
Storm approaching, 'Glad my cans are filled. Don't have to wrry about the power with my generator.'
Talk about food prep, "Pulled some rice and beans out of my supplies and made .....'

Most of it gets covered in babysteps.
One of my coworkers has really gotten into shooting a pistol he bought. Cause I had mentioned how relaxing going target shooting was.
He also has a 'Winter BOB' now in his car. When I come into the office I have to cross a mountain ridge. He asked me what would I do if I went off the road. So I told him. So he has a basic BOB in his car now and one in his wife's car.

While none of that matters if he fails to use it properly, it is at least steps in the right direction.
