  • TV Show Livin for the Apocalypse

    It's on 08-28 @9pm central time
Says "Communities and subcultures preparing for the Apocalypse"

I'm not sure but it might be something of interest. I'm not prepping for the "Apocalypse" in this "prepping
" rice n beans manner because to me that is of the Church and a different type of prepping is needed IMO.
Anyway saw it and also Sep2nd a new series of Man, Woman, Wild is suppossed to be coming on at 9pm Central time too.

I'll be sure to watch or record that. Yeah it mentioned "post apocalyptical survival"; John 3:16.

          There's an apocalypse coming?????????

Why didn't the government tell me???

How am I going to get my food stamps and my free college????

It's those dang Tea Party folks again isn't it? There should be a law against this whole apocalypse thing.

Loved the first season of Man Woman Wild. The wife is NOT a survivalist, but she really tries. Her husband is ex-special forces, etc, presently the host of "One Man Army." Show was really good. Before there was "Dual Survival" on this one entertained my wife and kids. It was the first show that I watched and said....PETA is gonna have a fit over this as he killed a python so they could eat while they were in the amazon (i think). Great show. His wife aint hard on the eyes either.

We watch and enjoy that show as well...but his over the top voice and demeanor just irks me....but Mykel Hawke is a VERY knowledgeable dude on what he preaches...

They just did a spot for that show on "Inside Edition" on NBC... They showed one of the families involved in the show and even put the guy's website on the screen..... I hope he wasn't worried about security - He doesn't have domain privacy on his website, so anyone doing a "WhoIS" search can easily find his address!

I think someone at the TV networks has some stock in a few of these "survival companies"......just wait til the 2nd half of 2012......anytime a natural disaster happens or something out of the ordinary, people are going to go NUTS and some will get RICH!

                          QUOTE]

Yes I'm gonna monday morning quarterback it some. I see some good ideas and some bad ones. I've heard from some folks I shouldnt do it. Oh well they went on tv, get over feelings and this is a discussion. Maybe my thoughts are wrong too and I'm the one needing correcting, wont be the first time so maybe I can learn by expressing my thoughts.
                          Ok, the first couple.
                          The food/shelter/garden/chickens was great
The weapon choice 30-30 lever could use improvement, to short a range for mountain defense IMO
The Mountain retreat "where we could stay a week or two", wow, really, I do that deer hunting, all them high dollar brand name preps and your just gonna make it a week or two? Tells me they havent done it. Some camping should be in order.
Living in suburbia neighborhood, not to sure about that.

                          Second Couple
The guy "doesnt want to use his real name cause when SHTF they will come over and get his stuff" so we went on tv .....sigh. I know i've put my face on here too and busted opsec oh well calculated risk and i'm not buggin in either, wont be here at this place much longer anyway so come on over and get disappointed just like 2 weeks ago when another one said "i'm comin to your place"
Silver fetish, goes beyond having metals
Great garden/rabbits/limited medical skills/starting martial arts maybe he will lose some weight while gaing some skill
however his idea of using martial arts to disarm folks with knives so he wont have to shoot them is dumb. To win you always use overwhelming force not try and match it or go below their capabilities.
It also tells me that he doesnt have the mindset to kill if needed.
Directly challenges the police and military with his NRA hat "that shows this guy has a gun"-dumb, avoid confrontations to stay alive
Going to trade alcohol, i'm against that because drunks get dumb ideas about you and your stuff IMO but he has an idea anyway

                          Third couple
Garden Pool McClung Family, we have beat that to death both good and bad, ideas are solid but the location stinks
He has now been on so many shows he will never make it, they will bum rush him

                          Fourth uh err couple?
I'm having a hard time even figuring out where to start. Drug Dependent Transvestite Survivalist living in a place thats falling in around them.

So what were your thoughts on it?

"Livin for the Apocalypse" what did you think ?

Watched it last night and I'll watch again on tape today. I wish TLC creators or producers would discuss the making of these doc's with, say the creators of this forum. Peggy Layton was a good choice to have on (her book "Emergency Food Storage & Survival Handbook" is a good info source IMO). The young couple in Mesa are doing well and have a tremendous setup, although I wish they weren't in the city. Hope their neighbors are all coming on board. Wish we had a store like they went to to buy the rain cistern ! The two (ladies?) were doing as well as they knew how. I question some of the stuff they canned and how it was stored but here again, you do as you can. Survival Doc's preps were dead on like Peggy's (invious of both). I would be afraid someone would carry off that little safe (although it's more then what I got). Sure wish someone would make a serious, dedicated film on prepping. (Or maybe they did).

I was flipping between 2 shows so I will watch it all and may update my review.

                              1. Most of their preps are at their home and business from what I saw...very little was pre-positioned at their retreat. 30-30 won't cut it!!! Their youngest daughter has her head in the clouds, she doesn't like to think about bad stuff happening....palm slaps forehead.

                              2. "1 is none and 2 is one, cause if you lose 1 you have 2 more" WHAT?!?! Did anyone catch that from this guy...uhm yeah. I know TV can make people lose their words...so I hope that it was just stage fright getting to him.

                              3. Yeah we have this family on several times and they won't last IMO.

                              4. Don't be a zombie with these 2 they'll kill ya and then can ya!! When I saw the preview I was like that is a dude.
