Found an interesting article on the Huffington Post. They talked about the unwritten "Commandments" for the 2012 election with the GOP candidates. While the remainder of the article reeks of typical left wing BS, this part caught my eye:
Okay, breaking it down, I tend to agree with most of them.
#1. Completely, utterly, wholeheartedly and strongly agree with. No new taxes!
#2. Agree with on a moral basis. However, I think there are other things that should be a priority prior to this.
#3. Again, on a moral basis, absolutely. However, we have larger problems to deal with before this and the political capital should be focused on other areas first.
#4. Absolutely! First off, it is going to cost this country a lot of money we don't have. Secondly, it's my right to get insurance if I darn well please. Third, it's no business of the government to tell me I have to do anything. Period, end of story.
#5. Agree and I had to look this up to figure out what it was. But after seeing the Wiki article on it, for certain. Any time the government gets involved in the private sector, to include the markets, things just don't work out that well for anyone. And being able to control and regulate the private markets means the government has that much more control over our very lives. So absolutely not.
#6. Absolutely! If not a top priority! No more out of control spending, period, end of story.
#7. With a broad definition of "friends," this one walks a thin line. However, I'm all about demolishing a country that attacks us and leaving it a barren wasteland in the end. No such thing these days as "nation building" in my book. You attack us, we will blow you back to the stone age Jack. And afterwards, leave and let you clean up your mess. Basing troops in foreign countries? Maybe as forward staging locations and for defense agreements. Other than that? Nope.
#8. Agree, but also add in several other organizations there as well like BATF, DHS among others.
#9. Agree and keep the EPA out of it! We've got oil sitting out in the Gulf of Mexico that is starting to be exploited by China. CHINA! Get them out of our pond and get it ourselves. And get the government out of private businesses. We've got minerals, coal, oil, gas and a whole slew of things that's sitting in the ground doing nothing because government regulations won't let our businesses get at it.
#10. Do not agree. Frankly, we all saw the whole "It's Bush's fault!" in the eighteen months after the 08 election. Do we stoop to their level? No, we hold the high moral ground and say "we've got problems that need to be fixed and we are moving forward." No blame placed, no finger pointing and none of this nonsense of trying to shift the attention of the country away from the fact you were inept and had no business in the office to begin with. We've got real problems and we need to face those problems with real solutions. And look forward rather than look back and blame someone else. Not rhetoric about who's fault it is, just fix the problems and move on.
So instead, I'd make #10 to reaffirm the Bill of Rights. And any federal, state or local regulation infringing on the Bill of Rights is null and void.
What's your idea for #10?
1. Thou Shalt Not Raise ANY Taxes
2. Thou Shalt Pass a Constitutional Amendment to Make Abortion Illegal
3. Thou Shalt Pass a Constitutional Amendment to Define Marriage as the Union of a Man and a Woman
4. Thou Shalt Repeal "ObamaCare," AKA the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
5. Thou Shalt Repeal The Dodd-Frank Banking Regulation Act
6. Thou Shalt Pass a Constitutional Amendment to Balance the Federal Budget
7. Thou Shalt Only Give Military Support to "Our Friends"
8. Thou Shalt Limit the Power of -- If Not Entirely Abolish -- the EPA
9. Thou Shalt Drill, Mine and Frak to the Widest Extent Possible
10. Thou Shalt Take the Name of President Obama in Vain
