  • Site changes updates

Some of the site changes are done and have been done for a while now. Color schemes, the layout changes, etc. have all been done for a while.

Still waiting on some ad changes for the top section.

We will be adding a new subforum. A private buy/sell/barter forum. In order to help keep the spammers down and in general for everything to run smooth, this subforum will be another of the forums only site members will be able to view. In addition for the added safety of buyers and sellers their will be a minimum time on the forums and minimum post count requirements for that subforum.

As we have stated for a couple months now, the subforum with the fiction stories "Survival Shorts" will soon be viewable only to site members. In other words, it will NOT be viewable to lurkers really soon. We've been mentioning this for a while now to give everyone time to join up that enjoys the fiction stories. That window is closing soon.....

Lots of new videos up on the Registered Members subforum. A whole bunch of members are coming forward with some GREAT instructional videos that they only post here at S and P! The only place to see them is on the Registered Members subforum. You have to be logged in, have a post count of at least 20 and some time on the forum (not just 20 posts racked up in 1 or 2 days) to view this subforum.

The members only subforums will not even APPEAR on the list of forums if you are not logged in to the site.

The last change we are working on is changing the look of the Survivalandpreparedness.com picture layout at the top left. If you have any suggestions for pics or good pics that you think would be good to use, post them up. If we use them for the layout, I'm sure the site sponsor will hook you up with a nice gift :)

Thanks for your support of the site!

Thanks for the hard work. I do have a question though. Why is the first post of each page long and thin? After the first it goes back to normal width, is it just me or is this common to everyone? I'm not the most technical person in the world so it's possible I'm doing something stupid of course.
I'm new here so forgive me if this has been mentioned before.

Grey- maybe the page didn't fully load? We have a very crappy net connection and if the net is spotty the pages don't fully load but this is something specific to our connection. Just here and there, not all the time, but if the connection is slow and the page not fully loaded, that's how some of it shows. Right now, it all is fine. We connect at wifi spots all the time traveling and always check the forums from outside connections, never experienced it somewhere with a decent connection.

If others are seeing that with a solid connection please chime in.

FWIW, I don't see what he is describing. I have 6mbps (I think), anyway - the highest speed available at my location.

Can I recommend a farming/gardening forum?? It seems like something that would definitely add value to the site...and something like 'animal husbandry' where people can discuss the ins and outs of keeping chickens/goats/cattle etc..

That would be huge for this site.

I agree, that way Homesteading could be broken into 2 categories...I like this idea, easier to search gardening/ farming posts

We will continue to add subforums slowly. I'd rather have a dozen or so busy subforums than 2 dozen with just a few threads in each.

                    Make sense?
