  • how would you handle the "greek question"

i've asked a bunch of folks this question.
the guys on the news say the u.s.a is on the same path as the greeks.

as greece fell due to economic pressures, the folks started marching.
they didn't like having their pensions cut.
they got mad enough to begin to riot. the road was thick with rioters
maybe 10 people thick and a long line to your left and to your right.
keeping in mind greece has been civilized for a long long time
they read, write, do arithmetic, long standing religious organizations. caucasions.

the riot in the big city turned ugly and they set fire to a bank.
the rioters blocked the road so that the fire dept couldn't get there to put out the fire.
2 ladies and a man couldn't get out and burnt.

now, put that scenario in the big town near you.
and you turn on the tv and see your bride/daughter/next door neigbor/church friend
pounding on the window. they can't get out.
you see them trying to break the window and can't.
you see the crowds keeping the fire dept back.

you are at your home and you live near the bank.
the flames are lapping at the bottom of the building.
you have time to get there and help save your relative/friend in the bank.
but the crowd is rowdy. you don't time for lots of phone calling.
you don't have time to sit on hold calling the mayor and complaining.
    what do you do?

well that's a line in the sand that we all have to decide when to cross. If the crowds wont let ems/fire through i doubt they'd let you through as well. Or they will turn on you if you tried to enter the building aka " stop him he is trying to put it out....".

As to Greece being civilized...modern etc. most places are...we only have to look to their past( aka history) to see how a region normally reacts to such events( this aint Greece's 1st rodeo if ya get my drift). I doubt the US will go the way of Greece or other places aka- ARG. I think it will be 10 fold worse due to our entitlement programs.
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

I believe that is the bottom line, it will happen here, it is just a matter of time.

The house of cards is barely holding its own, right now. A year ago i would have said that we would be back on tract to sound recovery (little chance with our present politicians) or we would be in Badtimes. Not just personally but nationwide.

We are not ready yet, but it can not be much longer.

I do what i have to do to get to them, using a vehicle or truck as my blocking back. No they are not more valuable then me and mine. But i would not be blocking the fire trucks or ems from getting to their either.

Everyone makes choice, and the ramification of those choices sometimes go a long way.

as i've asked men this question. men at restarurants, males at church, neigbors, i usually specify it is their wife in the bank.
right after the greek stuff was on tv, about 40% of the males siad they would go after their wives.
the typical comment was that the crowd would probably turn on them, but that they would use whatever tool they could use
to get through the crowd to rescue their wife from burning.
        --
something on this order, i'd quickly ask for help to keep my wife from burning. . if no help i would quickly ask them to move back so i could get there,
if they didn't move, i would have no choice but to use the best tool i had available. (my truck to my gun to a piece of 2x4) to clear a path through the crowd.
i'd then do all i could including injuring the members of the crowd to rescue my wife, and then do all i could to pass back through the crowd to be out of the burning bank.

about 60% said, no they wouldn't go to save their wife giving reasons as follows
it would be time to pray for God to save her.
it would be a suicide mission, and my kids/church/community needs me to stay alive.
i'd try to call the sheriff, police, friends and try to get a bunch of them to go save my wife.
        --
as time went on the odds got worse and worse. (fewer and fewer would attempt to save their wife!)
many of these are very macho, 2nd amendment, patriotic talking, type fellas.

it gave me a lot of insight into friends/associates/co-workers.
