New Crowd Control Weapons - You don't have a chance!

This was on yesterday's Survivalblog. Imagine having a microwave beam cook you. You certainly wouldn't protest or long.

The Active Denial System, or ADS, works like an open-air microwave oven, projecting a focused beam of electromagnetic radiation to heat the skin of its targets to 130 degrees. This creates an intolerable burning sensation forcing those in its path to instinctively flee (a response the Air Force dubs the "goodbye effect").

Or how about a laser beam that blinds you, or a chemical that puts you to sleep.

All this make the gun seem obsolete compared to what a police state could do to control you.

In the wrong hands, these weapons make out 1st amendment rights at risk. Imagine what the government could do to stop any an all protests.

Of course, as with all things tyranny does, the unintended consequences are people stop massive street protests (arab-style) and get all NINJA about it...

None of theses are really that new. Alot of them were in use and being tested as far back as 10 yrs ago in both Law Enforcement and the Military. They have even been used succesfully in operations thereby saving lives on both sides.

I have mixed feelings about this because having faced large crowds back before we got to carry all these tools, your options were real limited and usually resulted in killing. That's less than satisfactory because even unlawful and destructive demonstrations don't usually warrant that IMO so having the tools to not kill anyone but break up unlawful and dangerous crowds before they destroy everyones property they worked hard for is a not a bad thing. No matter what senario you are trying to survive even PAW there will be law even afterwards. Evryone wants the law to protect them but no one wants the law to stand against them even when they become "them".
Imagine your neighbors find out you have a bunch of food and they start forming a "free speech assembly" in front of your house making demands, what are you gonna do. Go get armed with your firearm and prepare to defend, right? So straight to lethal options you go becoming your own police state, judge and jury. Now imagine if you had invested in a microwave weapon, chemical agents, laswer beams, nausea weapon and could just zap them without killing anyone and they left you alone, which is better? Are you a killer? Most here have not nor do i wish it on you.
I have some chemical weapons and am looking at a taser myself and a few other less than lethal options that i wont mention for my own opsec.
I understand what you are saying but once again just because the tools are there doesnt mean everyone in uniform suddenly becomes an evil freedom thwarting government mind controlled zombie bent on oppressing the masses. You already cant stop tanks, aircraft, fire, artillery, water cannons or any other dozens of tools that could be used against anyone in what you are saying in your senario. Look at Syria, Eygypt etc. they didnt bother, just shoot them down. You should be proud that people in these positions here in the USA dont feel that you have no value and would rather use these weapons rather than just gunning you down in the street for protesting and that we live in a place where assembly is allowed even to a degree even though they KNOW it may all go bad soon and be a real possibility. Look at the post on the richman and his buddy in washington, they KNOW, but they are telling everyone to get ready to hunker down, not get ready to take over and take everyone out.

I think I am starting to figure out where you are coming from more and more. Between the emails and your posts, I like what you have to say. As I said yesterday, they're the only ones I feel I can count on (outside of my family) to do what's right for the American people.

Oh and by the way, thanks for your thoughts on the other subject as well. I will take that and run with it.
