I honestly think a big chunk of the armed forces would join with (us) the common folks because how is the Gov. gonna pay em to detain and police?????

But I do know in the military and police, there are some d bags and a holes so thats who I would worry about.......as well as the Zombs

It has been in the works since '08, they are finished with the training and are starting to deploy them.

Could also relate to the massive draw-down and wanting to mitigate dumping all those (now unemployed) troops on our already depressed streets.
What WILL happen, when Johnny comes marching home?

All those fat troop support contracts will dry up, etc. ... That has been spinning off all sorts of ancilliary employment and transactions.

And, BTW ... If hundreds of thousands of troops cannot subdue Iraq or Afghanistan ... then ... A measly 20k troops likely could not even secure the Texas Border ... Forget Arizona.

One good thing, tho ... Ammo should get cheaper ... ARs, too ... and TONS of surplus gear will show up on eBay ... That much should be pretty cool.

I agree with BW 20K troops will not be enough to police 300 Million people. IMO. That's not to say that they won't try it.

20,000 troops won't police 300 million folks. Of course, all 300 million aren't on Obama's enemy list. And then of course, those troops will just be helping the local law enforcement, and the other federal agencies. Maybe the troops are just for guarding the FEMA death camps, LOL. Google FEMA death camps. Just depends on how much you let the paranoia getcha.

Heck, MS-13 gangs gives the entire D.C area law enforcement(Northern VA, D.C, and Maryland) more headaches then they know what to do with.

Meh, It's some blogger that links a radio talk show (another blogger), some reporter on youtube, which I didn't see a credited news agency but I coulda missed it. And when you click on his "source" link it brings up a 'blank page'

There is a lot of this stuff out there in the blogosphere.

Cimarron pretty much nailed it. Lot's of tin foil wearers out there get spooked at shadows and create things that are never what they seem.

Sure, NORAD/NORTHCOM trains for deployment within the US. The military has been deployed in the US for assistance...very recently even. The evacuations during Katrina were almost entirely active duty military in those choppers. At least from the USAF side.

So yes, the military always has contingencies to be used within the CONUS. They have contingency plans for just about every possible scenario. Nuke Canada? "Check under M for Molsen Ice." Invade Antarctica? "Check under A for Antarctica, S for South Pole or under C for cold." Move a division of troops within the US for possible riot control? "Check in W for WTF are we thinking."

Either way, the military always has plans and always has troops prepared to go just about anyplace. To include in the CONUS for some fairly unlikely scenarios that would include rioting and mass mayhem. But it also includes the military's being used for other missions like disaster relief. So some see the fact troops are tasked for use inside the US and see the worst possible up outcome and/or make stuff about it like "to be used for rioting citizens during an economic collapse." Maybe the unit is trained for riot control as a part of annual training and someone connected the dots that don't really exist and reached far into the back of their underwear to come up with the "military is planning on keeping the necks of the citizens under their boots."

If that was the case, Fox News would be all over this as would CNN and other news agencies. This is one of those rebound things that makes it way around the 'net every so often.

I knew this was some serious aluminum foil headwear but I just wanted to have it clarified.....like I said, I dont trust much of what I read unless I have some facts to support it.....
