  • Lightning Strike

I won't bore you with details and stats of Lightning Strikes but think about this if you are on the move, camping, hiking or even sitting at the house. This happened a few minutes before i got to the house. The neighbor saw it as he was sitting on the porch. No damage to the house. Guess I know where the next batch of firewood is coming from!
Just another primer thought for survivalist.

Lightning has fried my brother's solar system inverter a couple of times, without so much as a near hit. There are spikes of current in the ground which can be picked up by wiring and wipe things out. He is in a valley, not on a high spot, so direct strikes aren't the problem. When I was living near him, I was using my laptop one evening, no storm at my location, and saw a flash, felt a shock on my leg, and about 4 or 5 seconds later, heard the crash of thunder. All the telephone wiring is underground through the forest there, so it had to have been an induced current which did the deed.
      III We are everywhere.
