  • Coin Question for yall

My mom just found a coin in a drawer of all places, at her house.

It seems to be a 1977 Franklin Mint Equestrian Monument of Colleoni.....it says 24k Gold electroplated sterling. #0872

Does anyone know of a value for this? I have checked all over the web and cant find crapola on it other than it was part of a set of historical figures.

Any info would be super appreciated.

It sounds like one of those things advertised on the back page of the "Parade" section of the Sunday newspaper... Franklin Mint - they always have something that is "Limited Edition! Soon to become Very Rare! A Collector's Piece!"

If you can't find anything about it on the web, that's probably a clue of how much it's worth. Check on Ebay - see if anyone else is trying to sell one.

I sent an email to a friend that has numerous books on coins. I'll let you know when he replies, if someone here cannot help.

the electroplating means its just an outside coat of gold, internal could be silver, or anything else. the value of the coins themselves are low, its the value as a collectable that matters. i have Nolan Ryan thats worth a small chunck.

My coin friend looked in his books and could not find it. He feels it likely is not worth much, but may be worth a little as a "collector's" coin. His advise was to keep it and maybe it will increase in value. He asked if you could get a picture of it and post it. I will then show him the pic.

Here is a pic of the front and back of the coin. I am guessing somewhere in the $25-35 range...but thats a guess.
I would like to know what it is worth so maybe I could trade it or hold on to it....it could be a great barter coin in the PAW...hmmmm
