I did not like it particularly. I didn't relate to the characters and the theme of the series has already been by H.G. Wells and Steven Spielberg. War of the Worlds, both the 1950's version and the recent remake, are much much better.

I'll watch it again because sometimes shows get better.

Ok so far I am about half way through the first episode and one thing that I wanted to point out was an exchange between the father and son: Son comments about how his dad used to not let him go over to a girls house on his bike because it didn't have a light on it and now he is giving him extra ammo. Dad responds by saying things change.

Also would like to note that Dad corrected son when son called a magazine a 'clip'. :)

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm a sci-fi freak, but mix a little fantasy in mine. My dad showed me how to loose myself in a good book to get away from the world for short spells. This has transferred to my like/dislikes in movies and TV, what little I see. I loved Jericho- I watched each week to see what kind of mistakes they made. I loved to see where their ideas of surviving were off base. I enjoyed it for entertainments sake. Falling Skies episode one was enjoyable for just that- entertainments sake, a break in a boring routine I call daily life. I mean, how many people do YOU know who can get hold of grenades, bazookas or hight tech weaponry? No don't answer that, I don't want to know how many of you are lucky enough to have such hidden in your stores. I know the show is set in a city- life is different here. Our closet armory for the national guard is 30 miles away. One big steel building on a back road. But you can count on those boys(n girls) stationed there, will have the place stripped in an hour when SHTF. The rest of us will have to deal with shot guns, 30/30's, 30-06's ect. The more knowledgeable with be priming our primative traps like were used in Nam. The show is a break for our minds from the reality that we're all prepping for each in our own way, enjoy it while we can. The nextworks have a history of getting rid of enjoyable shows to replace them with trash "reality" shows. Falling skies just adds a alien horde as the bad guys, nothing too ghoulish-don't want to scare the kiddies. The adults in us know- the real monsters walk among us on a daily basis.

who's the dummy that brought the enemy back into the camp, oh yeah a non military individual, super history teacher, who just showed them where they are, what they have, what their capablities are, what condition they are in
POW 101 don't bring them back and dont bring them into the command center if you do bring them back while blinding their senses, which in this case (senses) is an unknown
wonder if a skitter can be waterboarded?
little fiction, little humor and a lesson to remember

People need to look at "Ramaish James" posts and see WHY we are so proactive about spammers.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

So I watched one episode and part of another at the MIL's yesterday.

I know what a skitter and a mech is now.... Still don't know about whiskerdoo and whiskerdon't (with or without the scooter stick).
Still prefer snakes and sparklers... LOL

                    Anyone know the reference? ;)

nope the reference doesn't ring a bell....

It was nice to see a director that isn't afraid to show people praying at meal time as well as over the missing people. This is in the 3rd episode.

Joe Dirt. I guess since we don't have regular TV and watch some of the same movies over and over again, some of those phrases stick in my head, LOL

Someone needs to "have a talk" with the history teacher... He is going to get someone killed and the whole group is at risk with him doing whatever he wants, and only "obeys orders" when it suits his end goals... He's no different than motorcycle gang guy/Iron Chef... Arrogant pr!ck...

Yeah, liked the Christianity put in there, from the mouth of "babes" as well... What a sweetheart...

I have to swallow a lot of "you gotta be kidding..." comments, but it is decent viewing for when I am bored later at night when the family is in bed...

I'm really enjoying this show too. And I agree someone should have a heart to heart with that teacher before he gets someone killed. Now that they realize that skitter can talk to them thru the kid- don't they realize it can probably talk to it's own kind too?
