The author does like to state how we should not have retreats and that the bad guys will stay in the cities. He does like to bash the survivor mentality heavily in some ways- basically on having too many guns and all. Yet, halfway through the book it turns out he is rather well armed himself.

well aint that a contradiction ..dont go some where safe...stay where... in his words or shall i say his kids " bad men are..".

Not exactly a worse case scenario book since he still had water and basic services.

and a maid...and took out of country vacations during the collpase...and would go out for meals,,travel in his car, go to school, post on the web.play xbox/ps3 ..............oh and has said the most he went with out power was 2-4 days irrc


I guess if you took paris hilton and put her in a tent , with a sleeping bag, coleman lantern, with a guide to cook and chop wood for her....she'd write a blog about how she roughed it for days,almost got eaten by a bear and how the guide turned out to be a wild native that tried to have his way with her, untill she found her keys to the range rover and escape by the skin of her...umm....teeth...

since i can't read the name, i can't confirm this though...

this author sounds like someone who used to post over at another website i visited for a long time.
he was "sponsored" or something by the web site owner... i'm trying to remember...
he wrote an interesting story... made it sound like he was mr. supersurvivalist. but also made it clear he
was recipient of high dollar family money. the more i read his posts, the less creditable he became.
i think the owner of other web site even paid him some money to encourage him etc...
so that the owner of other web site could print his story...
anyway before it was over... mr. ****** was in conflict with moderators and declaring no one knew about shtf, but him.
i'd say enjoy the book, but i would test the waters carefully with anything he said.

i disavow any knowledge of anything regarding the author or his book.

Also the same guy that went on a mud slinging campaign with a few other forum owners,bloggers ( JWR for example) ..right before his book came out.


What folks need to remeber is to look into the past. What is that old saying..about not learning from it.

While the book has some good redundant info that has been around for years, it is just the authors spin on it. Like comparing a camping trip where i sleep under my tarp and rockriver sleeps under one then getting us to tell the story of that trip. I know RR's will be a lot different than mine...even though we went through the same ordeal........

Here is the "as short as I can make it and still have it make sense" synposis-

The guy in question and I kept running into each other on various online forums after he "departed" a major forum that I moderate at. He has never been on here so it's not this forum. When he left the previous forum (see RR's post above), he stirred more than a little bit of trouble. Being a moderator I had a chance to see some of the "behind the scenes" discussions. The owner of that particular forum is Christian and strongly defends the Jewish people in word and deed. Because of the views of the person in asteriks regarding Jewish people and the forum owner were in conflict their was at first a polite "please stop saying such and such about Jews" and then later more open arguments between the two (owner of that forum and Asteriks). Later that person would leave that forum after stirring up a few people and leaving with them. Being friends with the forum owner and knowing the proverbial "real deal" on the story, everytime Asteriks would bring it up on other forums I would correct him. He doesn't like to have people disagree with him.

For the longest time I never bothered to debate his survival ideas, holes in stories, etc. with him. I just spoke up when he slandered a friend. That didn't sit too kindly with Asteriks. At one point he made a "blog" post weaving a rather intricate story about how I supposedly tell people TS is going to HTF so as to sell them survival products. Anyone who has read more than about 10 of my posts anywhere know that's absolute BS. If anything I'm telling people NOT to panic, don't freak out, get anything you think you need a little bit OVER TIME, don't go into deep debt for preps, etc. The picture he painted was a money sucking fear monger. Course he never met me and I believe had absolutely no idea how long I or my company had been around or the number of things we do and have done to HELP the movement (2 years producing a Shortwave radio show giving out prep info that set me back $15K, sponsorship and support of various forums, driving 10 hours to campouts to teach free classes and give away supplies, etc.). I think he was floored by the 5-6 pages of support with people saying stuff like "Oh man, your the guy from JRH, heck I never knew, you guys are great..." etc. Anywhoo, his plan to slander me backfired but more importantly it really pi$$ed me off. I gave him a few days to come to his senses, told him and a couple mutual friends that. He thought he had some upper hand. I published a site with quite a bit of info regarding the deal, basically used his own words to condemn him. It was a waste of time and money for me, but he left me with no other choice. You can turn the other cheek to some people, but to others you just get slapped twice. He later brought my family into his little attack, claiming that because I was defending a friend with (in his mind) questionable religious beliefs, I was a part of a "cult." How you can be a part of a "cult" (that's not even a cult) that's 1,000 miles away from you I could never figure out?? Mail order cults?? LOL

Anywhoo, after a time, we BOTH came to our senses (it wasn't long before his book came out, go figure) and he edited out what he had wrote and I took down the info at the site I developed and lent him free use of several of the domain names that I had purchased that related to him. The foreword of his book wherein he mentions arguing with others on the net like "a deer running into a fence repeatedly" came from a conversation with me. I honestly believe the Lord showed me how retarded we both had been in fighting on the internet like that for six months by having me watch a little deer repeatedly (seriously about 80 times) try to get through a fence by continuing to run INTO the fence over and over and over. It went on so long I first slowed down to watch, then stopped, then realized at the end their was some traffic behind me (traffic in the country, that ought to tell you how long it went on!! LOL) Him and I were both kinda acting like that dumb little deer trying to RAM his way through the fence.

I still don't agree with him on about 80% of his preparedness ideas and that's o.k. He agreed not to keep slandering me and my buddy and I agreed to pull down the site I had made.

That being said, I have no illusions that Asteriks wouldn't pee on my head if it was on fire. While him and I aren't fighting and I've honored my word, I cannot in good sense, allow his works to be promoted on a site I pay the bills for. I'm sure he feels the same way about his blog. That is why their are Asteriks in place of his name and while their will always be Asteriks in place of his name.

In short, I'm not gonna kick him in the groin (unless provoked) , but I'm not going to promote him for Mayor either... ;)
