I've got 1 of them cans myself. I have to store it in the shade and vent it when it is real hot so it stays ok the rest of the time. I dont store any fuel in the living areas even when camping. I keep it at least 50ft away. Good reminder, het hows the weather out there? :)

One of the primary reasons I don't use any of those gas cans for anything except a small one for oil/gas small engines... They cannot handle to true rigors of long-term storage (not venting pressure). If you plan on storing gasoline in a GARAGE that is close to a home, I highly encourage you to get some military MFC cans, or some good quality steel cans. Anything less is not worth the potential DANGER... The MFC cans will swell up and puff up but will not fail...

I store all my gasoline and flammables in a yard equipment shed far from my home...

Why store gas in a can that doesn't have a vent? does it keep better?

These non-venting cans are another government regulation to help save us from ourselves. The leaking problem is just another "unintended consequence".
