I want to get a collapable fishing pole for my bob/ghb - any ideas on brands or makes also what is a good solution for bait? is there any long term bait that you can have in your bag with out it getting nasty?

I think for the weight & effectiveness it would be better to get a small gill net. However it's use may be ilegal in your state to use, unless there is no 'legal' any more.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Could not help but think of the infomercial of the early 70s of the Popel Pocket Fishing pole

My little boy would use it when he was about 3 yrs old.

I'm working on the fishing thing, from my experience you can spend a lot of time fishing, and not catching, unless you are using some sort of lazy fishing technique, like trotlines or bushlines.. I'm going to work on a bush line setup this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

Get a gatorade bottle, 16 oz size (I think, pulled the labels off, they sell them in multipacks), and clean it out. I'll be keeping my hooks and clips in the bottle, as well as some pyramid weights. Update to follow!

I juts have a generic rod/reel collaspable combo and a small kit of hooks, sinkers, small bobers and just a few lures but none with rubber. The rubber does not last. rooster tails and feather road runners are 2 I carry. erch are easy with the small gear and give much needed protein. remember small gear can catch a big fish but big gear can not catch a small fish

do you fish now? are you good at it.
My BOB fishing kit, is some lures that will work in my AO and in the south east. It is a nothing more than an old spin rod spool with 14lb fireiwre on it.
I fish by hand with it. I catch fish with it 95% of the time when i use it.

the popel pole does work, we tried to break one fishing off a reef one time. needless to say,,it works LOL
but honestly the newer micro rigs that run around 15$ or so...should do fine, your not looking for a trophy fish but dinner. So make sure you run some small hooks...like small big enough to fit in a mouth only 1/4 inch circle .

I use a 10' Shakespeare 3-piece Wonder 1 Lite Rod with braided Spiderwire and bait for panfish. I also have two containers Berkley PowerBait Crappie Nibbles in Chartreuse & Pink. Though I do have a small palm-sized fishing kit assembled with jigs and such, the crappie nibbles seem to work really well. But panfish with hit on alot of things, including small flower buds... which might work a little better in the long term. I've got about a dozen of the yo-yo reels in my kit as well.

Yep godisnum1 has'em in his kit as posted above. I have run yo-yos, trotlines, limblines and jug lines for years off and on. There are good small game applications with them too, but not until after SHTF and local game laws disapear.
