This is what happens when people keep electing gun nazis as their elected officials.

Thats a shame. I just spent Saturday training over 100 kids between 8-18 on airguns, archery, 22 rifles, 22 pistols, 9mm pistols and shotgun. I was coach on the 9mm and we allowed the parents/guardians/older siblings etc. to shoot as well. We used over 4k rds just on the 9mm. I taught kids who couldnt even hold the weapon up and had to shoot off a sandbag. They now understand safety, handling and what happens when weapons discharge and rounds impact stuff. We had 0 injuries, no safety issues and alot of FUN!

This is what you get when you allow "zero tolerance" laws. I'm a retired cop and in the early 90's I was summoned to my local school to arrest a "zero tolerance" lawbreaker. Yep, you guessed it. The lawbreaker was an eight year old boy who had brought a butter knife to school in order to spread peanut butter on his bread. I told the principal in no uncertain terms that I would not arrest the boy, even after she told me there was a school rule against a butter knife. I told her that no law existed to arrest a young boy and if she wanted to enforce her moronic rules she was welcome to, but I would not be a party to her silliness. Zero tolerance equals zero responsibility for administrators and it is a shame.

I never thought of it that way, but you're right. Transferring responsibility to the police is one way of washing you hands of a problem. Good for you!

My daughter marches with the local HS Marching band in the clolor guard. Due to zero tollerance she can't ride the school bus with her flag. And when she was accepted to the rifle squad (wooden sticks that look like rifles) we were told by two School Resource Officers that it would be a violation of zero tollerance if she was caught transporting her rifle on school grounds. We had to make special arrangements to drop her off at school.

Where is that stupid reset button...

They better watch out for those kids with the wooden rifles. Next thing you know, kids may want to wear steel-toe boots to school. Those things can put out an eye!

And what have they done? They completely ruined this boys perspective of what a police officer SHOULD be!! Honestly the pieces of S**T cops that handcuffed the boy and drug him out like that are nothing but useless cowards. I don't give a damn if you are following orders. Those cops should have said, no. But then the mighty pay check might stop coming, so they play the part of the gestapo. It's like the nazi solders who stood trial after WWII, saying, "I was just following orders". There are tons of stories just like this, where the cops arrest children for the most ridiculous things. The worst one I heard was a boy who was on a lunch program traded his chicken nuggets for a sandwich that another boy brought for lunch. The boy who recieved the nuggets was accused of STEALING school property, since those nuggets were given under a lunch program. The boy was then escorted off the grounds in handcuffs.

There used to be a day when the principle would get out a large wooden paddle when the child was acting out of line. These days they simply call the police, ruin the child for life (gun ownership, records etc).

I've taught both of mine to not even PRETEND to be 'shooting' if we're in a public area, no games of that sort, etc.. even with a stick they pick up. Including chopping at at dead plants cause it looks like they are using a machete...
My son wanted to be a lumber jack for halloween - wouldn't even let him on the bus with a small branch as part of the costume
                  I remember the paddle : )
