Gas went up 4 cents yesterday and 4 cents today the bread I bought at Wal-Mart went up $0.30 from yesterday. I forgot to get it yesterday and now I'm kicking my self for it. We headed for the tubes people.

I'm sure no one is really surprised (or should be) from the resulting price increases on food, fuel, etc.

This will soon translate to prep items also. Actually storage food has been holding the line pretty well- lead time for factory fresh food is about the same it's always been- couple weeks. And prices haven't really changed yet.

Look for that to change in the next couple months.

People rationalize a spike in gas prices and "absorb" it for a while, but then the reality of it hits (or should hit) and then prices have to go up, etc.

Just heard something yesterday that sales for big trucks were UP and sales for fuel efficient cars went DOWN in the last 2 years.....

        People are retards...

Crude oil went up today 2% to $113.05. Fill up now as the price at the pump will likely increase 5-10 cents in the next few days (if not tomorrow).

Seriously, I say it all the time... Does this surprise anyone. I mean with the way we print money and spend with money we don't have is terrible.

Oh yeah...down the toilet drain we go. No mystery, for sure! If those idiots on 'the hill' increase their spending cap...we're certainly in for it. There gonna tank the dollar, tie crude oil and other stuff to the gold standard and we'll all start replacing expensive klenex with Washington and Lincoln dollar bills.

I'm so glad I represent the small...enlightened few. Fortunately, I've got the know how, resources, tools, material, property and pantry to survive the inevitable.

people dont think anything bad will happen. It may not go super sour fast like some think, it make take years,it may take days. When people fail to learn from the past, then there is issue. The same can be said for every thing above our own personal bubble, to local gov, to the fed, to the world. What we are going thru is nothing new, its the same dance to a new song. Our gparents went through it,,our parents went thru it ( 70's and 80's) and now we get to go thru it.
Wether or not it is as bad or way worse is speculation. All one can do is stay constant in their preps, and keep their eyes and ears open......

till then , it really shouldnt shock anyone that prices on the things we consume everyday will continue to go up.......then it again it may shock them if they have been following the mantra of "dont buy easy produced consumables....invest in PM's...and take your money out of the bank....." like some mainstream dimwits have been preaching over the last few years....

right now a lot of people are in panic buy mode...i dont blame companies trying to make a $$ off slight increases......if anything...we all should have already expected it due to the current affairs of our economy .
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

                      i have procrastinated.
-- the conclusion of this thread leads to two choices.
either prices have "begun" to rise quickly and we should all quickly "load up"
                      or
prices are peaking and we should all just wait till they go down.
i would propose the first action. now i've got to act on it!
                      --
i checked with an associate who made a purchase in dec. 2010 july 09 and july 08
                      here are a few comparisons.
i hope these columns stay lined up!

compare and cry on most items if you aren't stocked up.
those who did.... generally have "made money"
yes. prices are higher, but can still be bought.
25# bag of xx is not equal to an ounce of gold yet...
but it may no be long.
what a bargain potato flakes were last year.
beans still look like a bargain.

we ate lettuce out of the garden tonight!

Those who are in denial about the prices are suffering from what is called "Normalcy bias." It's an actual psychological term, and means that just because it never happened to them before, they think it can't happen now. A lot of Jews in Germany were victimized by that in the late 1930's and early 1940's. They had never been herded into boxcars and sent to extermination camps before, therefore it couldn't happen. There were many, many people who saw the writing on the wall in the mid 1930's and G.O.O.D. They survived and thrived, while those who refused to admit the possibility didn't. Anybody seeing any parallels here?
