A lot of other people have been too. Now that some folks like this are announcing it, get ready for people to begin to take notice and slowly start to freak out and possibly stock up.

I think in general people know that prices will be higher, but are hoping that it won't be too bad; but when more and more news gets out that it's coming, I think people will freak out like you said and start to think about preparing for themselves.

not only higher prices, but goods put in smaller packages and many people don't even notice the 14 oz can that used to be 16.

So true about the smaller packages. Bread in our area was normally 24 slices per bag, and they are packaged with 18 slices for the same price or higher.

When asked about this comment from Walmart CEO regarding the serious rise in the cost of food, the White House press secratary said that "that's just one man's opinion". Duh - one man who studies the cost of raw materials and profit margins on a daily basis. The spin is making me dizzy.

Anyone who buys food and other essentials will know the truth of Walmart's CEO's remarks. Most people buy the same things on a regular basis - milk, bread, butter etc. The price of these items is out of sight. Yesterday, I purchased ON SALE - 2 for 6 dollars - one pound pkg of Land of Lake butter. That is $3.00 a pound on sale! Or coffee - coffee is out of sight.

The White House spin can't last long with real people having to make their food dollar go further.

We all knew price increase was coming. Here's my solution:

I use coupons and save lots of money. My BFF is the coupon queen, she got me started about 6 months ago. I usually only pay 10-20% of my before coupon total. Every week I clip my coupons and organize them in a book. When I get my sales ads, I plan out my shopping trip for that week. I have done so well that I have a room in my home that the kids call "mom's store". Shelves of goods! When they need something they head to "mom's store". If you don't care about brands you can really stock up very cheaply. When I leave a store with $300 worth of products and only paid @$50, it's a rush.

Best places to use coupons (in my area) is Walgreens, CVS, Walmart and Kroger (although they just changed their coupons policy: no more double and triple coupons)

A little bit of effort can save you big!!

When Kroger had boneless chicken breasts 1.99/lb a couple of weeks ago, my whole freezer said BAWK BAWK......we literally have a months worth of chicken for less than $40......My wife clips coupons like she is on drugs!! Our Sunday evenings consist of Coupon Time. At least until I get my first plants in the ground this has helped out a ton. Come on Official Spring...these seeds are waiting...The Garden of Eatin 2011

Add me to the list of couponers. I've been using coupons since last March and since we only have a Walmart, Walgreens and Harps to shop at I feel pretty limited with getting those great sales and major freebies in stores like Krogers, Albertsons, Kmart, etc. I still have a super nice stockpile of "health and beauty" items, and I have really stocked up on canned goods using coupons. Unfortunately, there are no coupons that I am aware of for purchasing dried beans, wheat berries, and other goods for LTS.

For Walgreens deals I go to:

view advance walgreens ads and deals. find out what coupons to use. keep up to date with the latest and hottest deals at walgreens!

                    Other great coupon sites are:

Flip through the current ❇️ weekly ads and early sales flyers for your favorite grocery stores and retail stores near you.

Explore ConsumerQueen.com for money-saving tips, delicious recipes, DIY cleaners, gardening guides, and a thriving deal-savvy community.

                      Thanks Lacey!!

I need all the help I can get.
So tired of seeing these ladies on youtube getting a huge amount of items from CVS/Walgreen's/Target and spending less than $5 after coupons.
I can never seem to make these coupons things work, but I will keep trying.

                        You're welcome, Klayton,
You would be absolutely shocked at what you can get for free or very little out of pocket just shopping at Walgreens, once you get the hang of the Register Rewards thing. This week you can get free Colgate toothpaste. PM me if you'd like any help.

I have seen the prices slowly creeping up in our local Walmart here. Also been trying my hand at using coupons.. nothing major but I have been able to get a few buy one get one frees stocked away in the preps as well as a few cents off here and there.. every little bit helps.

serioulsly, is it much of a surprise? The entitlements of this country, the over spending, our deficit? It's a boiling pot that is soon to spill over.

My wife uses couponsense and saves us a ton. The prices here are going up daily and now this on top of everything else. I hate to be the glass is half empty guy but "something wicked is headed our way folks" Gas is 3.61 a gallon and diesel is $4.09. I know some people who barely made it through the recession and now find themselves in a worse hole today but we aren't in a recession anymore, yeah right we are headed for a depression. Gerald Calente said it best "people will begin to loss everything and when the have lost everything then they will just lost it". Ok sorry guys I will get off my soap box now.
