  • japan folks hungry... how far will they go

i was discussing japans cannibalism with another --during ww2..
something i didn't know about until the last 4-5 years.
    --
    so here's the basics.
jap soldiers in ww2 killed captured american airmen and ate them for "sport"
or to show their superiority or for some deranged meaning...
jap soldiers killed chinese captives and ate them because their supply lines hadn't c
    aught with them in ww2.
    --
    so..
    the question is ...
assuming their basic societal belief structure hasn't changed much in 60 to 70 years.
will the hungry disaster victims eat their neighbors if food is in short supply? will they quietly kill each other in an orderly fashion to get food?
or just eat the recently dead from another village?
in the two stories i told above... the folks the japs ate were from groups that were inferior to the japs.
so... maybe they will only eat those from neighborhoods that are inferior to their neighborhood??

Survival, hunger, severe violence and time will make you mentally justify the means. Cannabilism, rape, desertion, torture and grotesque violent acts such as mutilation for enjoyment are common during long term events. Without ROE and law this is inevitable. The types of people who will survive also are rogue elements that survive on luck and toughness. These predators also will have a quick following for survival purposes as well. Just as the japanese "soldiers" who resorted to this as a means to lift their symbolic status so will others in a collaspe. I can say that a miltary unit that has allowed itself to succumb to that type of behaivor has collasped and their is no law and therefor no ROE.

I also think things are a little different now as supply lines are flowing from alot of different sources. There are those it will not reach that may end up doing things or are already have that they would not normally do. Since we are not at war and they are "allies" alot of support is going in both in governments and private donations etc.

Although Japan has its bad apples too (otherwise why would they have prisons too), I do not think their culture would resort to rape during this type of crisis. Yes it could happen, but we are talking Japan, not New Orleans.

That being said, could you imagine the disaster, looting, rape, etc that would have happened if another major US city was hit like Japan was?
I believe the report stated New Orleans had within hours people were looting (to include UNIFORMED police officers), within 2 days people were raping (some as young as 12 y/o girls in the superdome), within 3 days killing their fellow man for supplies/items... Ya, America is falling to crap, perhaps we are due for a "reset"???

I don't know if that much is true. That's about as real as Obama throwing a strike.
