On a lighter note.....isnt it awesome to see a Natural Disaster with no looting?...so far so good. What a respectful and helpful culture. God bless Japan.

Official death toll as of this morning is 574. Much lower than I expected. But still approximately 1,300 unaccounted for... But even with that number, much much lower than I expected...

@Wiseowl: did you see the news footage of them passing out emergency water and supplies? The people were calm in a line and everyone bowed as saying thanks when receiving their little 6x6x10 inch box. You wouldn't see that in America, people would be like, GIVE ME THE D#$N BOX!

The toll from this disaster will be played out over weeks and I think the enormity of it isn't even surfacing yet. I hope I'm wrong on that thought. The civility of the people of Japan in the face of such a devastating loss is awe inspiring, almost restoring some faith in mankind. God bless the people of Japan.
What a long, strange trip it's been.....

I just heard this AM on Fox Business that the Japanese economy, already in serious trouble, is not going to be able to rebuild without significant difficulty. The Japanese have always been savers, including significant investments in U.S. Treasuries. They are already selling off these U.S. Treasuries and it will get worse as the cost of the disaster rises.

As Japan is forced to sell U.S. Treasuries - what happens to our own economy.

dang good point mb..i guess everyone is aware that Japan is our #2 on our "go to list for money" with china being first..its hard to say what will happen on Wall Street today, and for long time to come, this will have a "long lasting effect" so folks, buckle up your seat belts and get ready,i think we are in for a long, rough, bumpy road..remember,we borrow .42 cents of every dollar our govt spends,Pray For Japan and its people

10 trillion?? oh man, not good....

@MB: ya them selling off our debt is a very very bad thing for us. Expect prices for everything to start rising and the value of the dollar to start dropping...

Time to play the what if game

The timeline from quake to water aint very long. Live on the coast? Visiting Hawaii? Where do I go and how many minutes (less than 5) do I have!
Wheres the high ground and which way are folks how look like they have it together heading? Old people got that way for a reason!
