  • Fox Fire Books

Alot of the young people may never heard of Fox Fire books, but I'd like people to take a look at them. I remember my parents had the whole set, when I was younger. I remember looking at them, when I was a kid. There is a wealth of knowledge in those books. Their are 12 volumes. You can find them on ebay, or google it and you can buy a new set for around $220. I will be getting a set, as soon as I get my basic dry storage complete. The books, cover everything from gardening, building a log cabin, plant medicine, traps, cooking, hunting and even making a moonshine still. lol! These books are a must for all preppers!

Those books are great. I have about 5 or 6, but I should have just bought the whole set. Can't say enough about the wealth of information in those.

My grandma had a set in the upstairs, near her grandfather's journals of life before 'the War Between the States'
Lots of interesting history was learned by reading all of that stuff.

I have the first 6 books. Was going to buy the others as they were published, but was told the latter ones were not as informative & practical as the first 6, so didn't buy them. The ones I have are a well of information on a variety of useful subjects.

Two years back, I went to a metal detecting hunt with some friends from across the country... well my fiance and I went walking around an old country antique store there in Caldwell, Kansas and I happened upon the Foxfire series. I had NO idea what they were since I had only recently become interested in being self-sufficiency and survival, but noticed them because I thought it said "Firefox" (like the web browser) Anyhow, a little later on that evening at dinner I was discussing those books with the widow of a friend of mine who had recently passed of cancer. She IMMEDIATELY knew about these books and said I should buy them before we left town. We never got around to it because all the stores in that tiny town were closed on Sunday's, but a friend of mine in town went back by there a couple days later and found out that they only had books 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 for FIVE DOLLARS EACH! They're all the old original series, rather than the new copies that are being sold. My friend scooped them all up for me and mailed them out flat rate the very next day! Now I've just got to get the rest of them, preferably the old series as well. :)

I bought my first Foxfire books back in the 80's. Like said above the first few issues have a wealth of knowledge, the latter ones not so much.

I especially like the chapters on folk lore and home remedies.:D

I have the first 9. It is fun to look through them and see how things were done without electricity. I hope we never have to go there again.
