Headed to the my first Appleseed Shoot in Ramseur, NC this weekend. Really looking forward to it. I have not had the opportunity to shoot any of my AR's past 150 yards since I was in the Marine Corps. Is there anyone here that has attended the Appleseed in Ramseur? Just wondering about the camping there. I plan on camping out for the weekend, but wanted to know the water/open fire situation etc. I have tried, in vain, to get up with "Fred" to ask some questions, but he hasnt answered me back in the 3 emails I have left him. Anyone have any advice or best practices you can offer? I will drop a line on Tuesday, and give an after action report.

Arrived at 0700 on Saturday morning (the 12th) in Ramseur, NC. Beautiful day, but started out a little chilly. Found an open camping spot with fire pit. Erected my 10x10 od green teepee tent, organized shooting gear and waited for some friends to arrive.
When we all showed up we walked down to the shoot house at around 8:15. There were about 50 people there to shoot. There were 7 RWVA Rifleman there to assist everyone. Everyone laid out their mats to shoot off of as the covered concrete structure would not be fun to shoot off of for extended periods of time. I think I shot about 250 rounds the first day from various shooting positions.
The first thing that you shoot is a “Red Coat” target. This consists of a 100/200/300/400 “dog” target and 1x1 in target to simulate a headshot at 250 yards. On this system you are to shoot 3 rounds at each of the dog targets on the sheet and one on the headshot square. Using iron sights on my already zeroed AR-15, I did well. I had 3 in each of the 100/200/300, but dropped all 3 at the 400 and missed the headshot as well. Seems I am blind.
After shooting the “Red Coat” we get our first “Center up” call and everyone goes to the middle to learn some basic elements of shooting. 6 steps to a shot. Shooting positions. Use of GI sling. Then we go back and shoot another string of fire getting people to tighten up their groups using sight picture, sight alignment, respiratory pause, focus on front sight post, trigger control, and follow thru. The target that we used was a 25 yard, 1 inch square with four
