I have been out of the loop some recently. What is the significance of March 11th?Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!
Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!
ATTENTION: No trees or animals were harmed in any way in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were really ticked off!
NO 10-289!

The mooslim brotherhood wants a "day of rage" in Saudi Arabia on March 11th. If it goes anything like Egypt gas prices will soar. We get most of our oil from the Saudi's, not like Libya who exports almost all of their crude to Europe.Originally posted by Patriotic Sheepdog View PostI have been out of the loop some recently. The Europeans should be the ones threatening Ghadaffi not us.

It is high time we used some brains and find another source of energy before gas goes to high.
We've been trying to find a solution since the 1970's. Apparently it's not as easy as one might think.

Au contraire (wife slaps back of head for using **gulp** French phrase)...Originally posted by Benn Gleck View PostWe've been trying to find a solution since the 1970's. Apparently it's not as easy as one might think.
Many inventors have accelerated progress only to be shut up by the greedy. The first to come to mind is the framing of DeLorean. Still today he has more automotive patents than any one man. Then there is the guy who invented a way to literally BURN WATER, his patent was quickly purchased and we hear nothing of it anymore. Point is, we have the technology, we have what it takes, its the powers to be that are blocking it. Dad retired from Chrysler (yes he is a union worker **cry** ), I remember him telling me that they purposely design cars to break within a certain time frame after the warranty. Chrysler at one time actually used PLASTIC timing chain gears on their Omnis, so they would break shortly after the warranty (that pissed me off when I was told that).
Point being, if they allow you to buy a car that will last forever, it won't take long before dealerships are closing down faster than bobcat with a burr under his tail. Vehicle are designed with an intentional breakdown mark. I have found to "some degree" that the original Japanese vehicles did not do this (actually saw a 70/80s Toyota Corolla driving on the interstate a couple weeks ago). But now they are pretty inline with our "standard". Perhaps because of the last two HUGE market depressions Japanese had in the recent few decades. They soon learn, hey we need to make these things break down so they come back for new ones...
:)
Well just my 2 copper pieces...

While John DeLorean was a man ahead of his time as an inventor and his car was cool they were pretty expensive.
I've never heard about the guy that patented a way to burn water but it sounds like a variation of the 100 mpg carberator myth.
As for plastic timing chain gears, I know many cars/trucks I've owned have had plastic (nylon) teeth on the timing chain gears. The reason I was told was it was quieter. The most reliable timing setup would prbably be a gear drive with NO chain but they are noisy.
I wish we had an alternative energy source besides oil too but I'm not willing to believe the conspiracy theory's about the oil companies because they produce the evil oil.
Look at solar energy, it's getting better but it's too expensive to be an alternative let alone the issues with battery production or disposal.
Or the Chevy Volt. You get 40 miles to a charge. If it's below freezing you get 20. Then you have to charge it with electricity made by coal fired power plants. As with solar power you still have to produce the batteries and when they are used up they have to be recycled, creating another enviromental problem.
We do have to find another energy source but we are not going to find it overnight. It will take time. In the meanwhile we should be drilling everywhere.

@Benn Gleck: well, the water burning fuel is on video, I think you can still find it on youtube
DeLoreans were expensive because of the amount of time put into the assembly of each one, were talking Ferrari level, NOT Ford level.
As for noise levels, if they can make a Rolls-Royce Ghost so quiet that you have to look at the tach to make sure it is still running, well you get the picture. Oh and its a monster V-12 to boot.
The Volt, well the first part says it all "Chevy"...
In comparison the below pic is a car that came out in 2002!!
Has a 217 mile range.
Does 0-100kmh (0-62mph) in under 5 seconds.
And has a fast recharge capability of 0.994 mile for every minute of charge (thats a pretty dang fast recharge).
Again, this car was introduced in 2002 and I am pretty safe in saying, most of you never heard of it... care to guess why?

Oh, its called a Venturi Fetish and is 100% electric NO ENGINE AT ALL, runs $580,000 US. :) So Matt, could you spare a man a dime?

Don't you need a crap load of zink or something to burn water? Or was it magnesium?

I saw a thing about some guy doing something like this. I don't know if it was the same person you're talking about. I believe it was something to the effect of using an electrical charge to break the bond between oxygen and hydrogen, but that requires more energy than you can get out of the flame so there is no real gain.
