  • IRS Fed Refund coming: I have already spent it three times over in my mind... LOL!

Have a good chunk of IRS refund coming (good side of bad times last year) and I have been making lists in my head of stuff I need to further out my preps and stuff I need... Problem is, I could spend three times or more the refund if I got most the stuff in my list...

    Anyone else...?

Here is my list so far:

    1. Replace RO filter elements
    2. New pair of shooting safety glasses with transition lenses for indoor/outdoor use.
    3. New set of camo's...
    4. Lightweight 14.5" middy upper for wife
    5. Another 980 rounds of SA .308 ammo
    6. Visit LDS canning center
    7. New Bridgestone A/T tires for FJ Cruiser (sell ones on there now, as still 20k miles left on them)

That's the DO-ABLE list so far...

Sadly, it is repair/upgrade the car.

I need said car to get me to work.... so I can afford other preps and items. ;)

I am looking at around 8,000. Yes. I way over pay because I once owed 10K. I am keeping 3K and giving the rest to the wife for prep stuff.

She may spend on cruise, and holiday to Disney. Me I am getting a PTR-91

Yeah, that is why I keep my deductions where they are... I owed one year and it was terrible timing and took two years to pay off the IRS... Since there is no way out of taxes yet, I prefer to pay too much and get a refund than owe... Having the IRS on your back is the worst...

Had it worked out pretty well this year and only got $250 back. Spent it by signing up for two training classes at my range. Did the first one this weekend and had a blast, literally. But boy am I sore this a.m. Lot of rolling around in the dirt, etc. Money well spent.

I overpaid as well even after increasing my deductions past the point of actual people we support in our house.

@Rmpl - If it were me I would do a prioritized list based on the basics, water, food, protection, etc. Here is something that I found interesting it may help you prioritize your expenditure. http://www.survivalblog.com/2010/11/...r_to_full.html

Its another perspective at least. I would probably use this as a guide to help me figure out what to get after I did an inventory of what I had. Happy shopping!!
