  • Raising the bar- just slightly

So we have had a lot of folks "register" on the forums here but not post much or simply at all.

We are going to "raise the bar" slightly and make the "Registered Members" sub forum where all of the S&P training videos are posted available to members with a post count of 10 or higher.

Ten posts, not a lot to ask. Anyone remotely serious about wanting to be here could rack that many up in a few days just saying hello, asking a couple questions or helping others by answering a couple questions.

For those too lazy to make ten posts or register, we will start making DVD's available with compilations of the S & P training videos and they will be "fleshed out" a little more. It will be a while on these though and they will probably only be available once or twice a year.

Two more S & P training videos were just shot, we'll be working on getting them edited, formatted and posted in the next couple of days!

So all we have to do is make posts , even they aren't about anything ? I could just aimlessly post droll and unexciting things to raise my post count . That sounds too hard and I'm sure it will make peoples life hard , knowing that they can just post useless posts to raise their counts . Ok , Ill stop :)

I like the idea of having a minimum post count to get into registered members sub forum. I'd like to see it higher than 10 though. ;)

I hope you don't start booting people off for not posting enough. I had that happen to me on another forum because I was out of town for a while. ;(

                I would disagree...

Keep people connected in the ideas of survival and preparedness. The last thing you want is the site that should help people; to be something that only the "special" can be a part of. Survival information is for everyone, people should have the complete abilities to see it despite their commitments prior. Think of it like this, keep a road for people to gain information. Make it available regardless of their ignorance.

@2682nscovell - Most of the videos are able to be found on Youtube anyways. Besides if its too much trouble to post anything, even saying hello to the forum then their loss. Seems to be an epidemic of people wanting stuff without putting any skin in the game so to speak. They want to learn yet they don't want to post a minimum of 10 posts to get to some exclusive videos... Personally I like having access to something that only people that have posted 10 times can get to. The object isn't just so others can be a leech but to share our experiences and maybe by sharing collectively we can all become better prepared but if posting 10 times is too much....Then i guess they won't get to watch these exclusive Blockbuster videos for free.

Whew I avoided a whole tirade, well maybe :) I would be ok if they upped it so that I would have to post a whole bunch to get to see them.

                    Well said Elittle.

Ten posts isn't crap. Let's get serious here.

Also, we are trying to make a statement against the "somtim fo nuthin" socialist mentality that DOES run rampant in the preparedness movement.

Do I "owe" you anything? Nope, and neither do you "owe" me anything.

You could pay $40. for a cheeseball gun training video/DVD and feel like you got your money's worth because it had a big school name on the front. Or you can make (gasp!) ten posts on a FREE forum and then watch training videos for FREE.

                    YOU DECIDE.

I have never cared for the "de owes me" mentality. And honestly, it's counter productive to survivalism. Yet we have had 40+ years of this mentality and it's streamed into people's homes 24/7 by the "Time Vacuum" (better known by it's abbreviation- TV).

We need to stand on our own two feet. Think back to our heritage, the founding fathers. Where would we be now if all of them were little whiny socialists in training?

I provide a forum here for free. That forum provides a venue for all of us to exchange information. I spent about an hour yesterday filming, several hours this morning editing and have tied up my internet connection ALL DAY today as I've been working on getting two new videos up for the Registered Member's forum.

This "socialist in training" everyone owes me attitude isn't going to get you far on this forum. We don't tolerate it.

My thoughts exactly 1Admin, figured it was better for that to come from you or a mod than from someone like me.

yeah, I guess I see your guys points. It makes sense. I just joined today so I am getting involved right away. Mainly because I am serious about these subjects. Actually really serious. I'm a father of two that lives in Philadelphia and I feel like a bug in a venus fly trap. I would like a lot of input on these topics so that when things do happen I won't have to ask for any help in the real world.

I have been a member of quite a few forums for many years and have probably not posted 10 posts in a 10 yr span , I mostly go there check out what others with more knowledge have inputted and then I cross check it . When I post it is most times to ask a question where I have searched the forums and couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for . I checked yesterday and I had almost 30 posts and I was like WOW , I don't think I have posted 30 posts on the other 20 sites I have been on for years . I guess because most of those sites are recreational forums where I'm upgrading a vehicle or something sports related , but here it pertains to the safety of my family and myself , so I am ALOT more proactive . But after coming here a few months now , I try to learn as much as I can and since I see others putting their knowledge and skills online that can help my family when we need it most , I feel like I should throw in my .02$ when I have some kind of expertise ( which isn't much , and I will NEVER admit that to my wife ) that can possibly help others .

Maybe it's a way of getting folks to post more?

I look at it like a community, and if I am giving and receiving. There could be a lot of reasons why newcomers come on and don't post, little to no knowledge, just gathering, feel intimidated, have poor writing abilities, etc.
Speaking for my self I honestly admit I don't have a lot to add tactically with no military/law enforcement, so I find those who do, and are willing to share like S&P.

I have been on other forums that reading a discussion between other members I have learned a lot. I have also discussed topics with others to have someone chime in and say "I was wanting to know this too". So it works both ways.

                            just a thought..
A desire changes nothing, a decision changes some thing's, but determination changes everything.

10 post isnt nothing, as already said

                              " hi im new"
                              " thanks for the welcome"
                              "yeah idaho has great taters"
                              " i like to camp"
" i own an AK as well..."

look there's 5 right there, i'll let anyone use them if they want.....;)

A LOT of time and effort goes into putting out the info that is put out in these films(blog post) .......even more so when it comes to putting in a format that everyone will like.
People need to understand that while many of us like putting out this "free" info in a medium like that, its a greater rerward to have people get involved with the topics that arise afterwards.Posting their own films, own blog entries etc. Hows that saying imiation is the best flattery. or such.
LD will tell ya ..i complain alot about my films, and how much BS we have to put up with in order for people that DO want to learn to have good free info.
people need to get off the its free band wagon,,while it may be free for them,,,it aint free for those putting that info out there.
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!
