  • What if... the windmills quit working in texas?

an associate from new mex. called a couple of days ago.

he had been "called in" after hours...

the windmills of texas quit working. i forgot the reason.. i think it was the storm.
drop in electricity for west texans.
new mexico gets their nat gas (new mex. folks use that to heat) from west texas.
with little elec. west texans started buying up all the nat. gas.
very little nat. gas for new mexico.
    --
new mexico has had freezing weather.
100,000's of folks without gas to heat.
so they all to go the stores to buy elec heaters.
per assoc. no elec heaters for sale now. all sold out.
assoc wants elec heater. he can't get one.
but there is huge increase in electric demand because of all the electric heaters and no gas.
    --
they are expecting crash in elec grid if demand keeps climbing.
no gas. no elec. extremely cold...
    bad news... serious bad news.
i asked him why this wasn't on the national news.
    he says.
h___! most folks don't even know where new mexico is!

Texas is getting electricity from Mexico now too. It's not much but every little bit helps.

MEXICO CITY (AFP) – Mexico's state electricity company on Wednesday started supplying electricity to the US state of Texas, where demand shot up amid unusually cold temperatures and caused power outages.

Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission "was determined to support Texas with electrical energy faced with the problems the state is suffering due to climatological conditions," a statement said.

An energy transfer of 280 megawatts began at midday (1800 GMT) via the north Mexican border cities of Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Piedras Negras, it added.

Texas Governor Rick Perry said in a statement that power and emergency management experts were working with utility providers to ensure power was restored as quickly as possible.

"Until that happens, I urge businesses and residents to conserve electricity to minimize the impact of this event," Perry added.

A desire changes nothing, a decision changes some thing's, but determination changes everything.
