This snow storm is a great lesson for my wife. Last night she went to get some more pedialyte for our son who has bronchitis (thankfully recovering from it) and I asked her to pick up some more milk for the kids. She gets home and says I got the last 2 gallons of Prairie Farms on the shelf, the bread aisle was empty and the store was nuts, her words. She seemed shocked that the store ran out of milk and bread and other things. I told her this is due to stores in general operating on the Just In Time delivery system, they don't keep the backroom stocked up. Thankfully we have enough food on our shelves to get us past this. Kids will have to drink water after the milk is gone, I would rather face my milkaholics than the golden horde :).
Of course my wife thinks the gov't would create a false panic based on the weather to help the economy, not sure about the rationalization on that one. At least she sees the sense in keeping extra food on the shelf.
