Here is a link with video updates. Seems the police have abandoned their posts, although they are still guarding the artifacts. Military tanks abandoned.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/9380534.stm

Gangs have taken to the streets with machetes and sticks as well. Tourists are trapped, businessmen leaving the city like rats anyway they can. It's not looking pretty.

This is a SHTF event for sure. Craziness, I dunno if I can handle something like this even with my family and the training we do. I am always looking for force multipliers or someone to organize with to defeat something like this. I know it's a bugout situation too but the what if I didnt make it out in time always presses me.

It seems to be sweeping that area.

Notice the market is high, for a couple months the economic "news" (that being broadcast) has mostly been good, but you hear the Rhinos and Demopublicans talking about "acting now before it's too late?" Mixed messages for sure but we should probably expect that.

I'm guessing they think American's won't riot in cold weather? I think they are probably right.....

I would like to say sheeple are smart enough to think about the weather, but I'm not sure. Most sheeple don't used their brains and only act on emotions. They haven't prepared for the food and energy inflation we are seeing so they will act without thinking about where they will get their next meal or where they will sleep.

What concerned me about the videos I've seen is the protesters had overrun the military and had tanks and APC's that the military had apparently abandoned. I hope when they abandoned them they were able to somehow disable them so they wouldn't get in the wrong hands.

I heard the gov arrested the interior minister for the prison "breakouts". The reporter also said "but, many of the prisoners have been rounded up."

Follow-up question the reporter should have asked..."and how many is many?" 100 is "many" but that leaves 600 or so running wild.

Davar- better to do it now than later.

If oil has truly peaked when certain people have said it did back in the early 80's.... this is a great time to do it. Besides, better to do it now than during or after SHTF......

Okay, here's the problem. It seems that all of the oil from that region goes through the Suez canal, which is controlled by Egypt. Apparently the last time they had a problem there, they sunk 42 ships in the canal, virtually shutting it down for several months. If the tankers can't use the canal, they have to go around the horn in Africa, which adds several weeks to the trip, and costs significant peso's. If something comes completely apart in that region, we could see gas prices double easily. Our economy can't stand that. We're sitting on the edge of hyper inflation as it is. The Fed has fired every bullet in their gun to control it. Right now it's working, but if oil spikes up, we're done. It will stick a fork in our economy. I guess one of the signs will be when they start printing money only on one side, like they did in Germany. They did it to save money on printing costs. The benefit was that if you used the unprinted side, it was less irritating when used as toilet paper....

The situation in the middle east - Egypt, Sudan, Yeman, at al, has me extremely uneasy. It's like a fuse has been lit and the explosion has yet to happen. There is so much tension it's just a matter of time.

It gets better in the middle. The first half I think is more of a precursor to the story.

This is what I sent my friends/family who I believe will change soon attached to a website with my comments added as a wakeup for some and a reminder for others.

10 Things That Egypt Can Teach Us About What Happens When Society Breaks Down

These are some things I think about Egypt and what is happening. I do not believe that it can not happen here.

Unfortunately many Americans will never start to prepare until it is far too late. But for the rest of us that are willing to learn, there are some things that have happened during these Egypt riots that are important lessons for all of us....

#1 When society breaks down, people look for whatever weapons they can find. Over this past week, abandoned police stations throughout Egypt have been stripped of their arsenals by looters. (why wait to have what you need and have what you need to defend against those that will steal from police stations?)
#2 When society breaks down, nobody is safe. Average Egyptians "armed with sticks and razors" have formed vigilante groups to protect their homes from the crazed looters that have emerged during the rioting. (why wait to have what you need? Form one with your friends/neighbors/family now and we don't need sticks we have the 2nd Amendment.)
#3 When society breaks down, you better protect your women and children. At least 60 rapes have been officially reported since the rioting began. The unofficial number is surely far higher than that. (But where's the law, oh yeah it's a societal breakdown, they left too, after all they are just people(society) too)
#4 When society breaks down, criminals do not fear the law. There are reports that at least 4 prisons have been attacked and that thousands of convicts have escaped into the streets. (Think it won't/can't happen here, guess again because outside help is already often used in escapes, manpower is always in short supply because prisons do not rank in society)
#5 When society breaks down, authoritarian governments begin hoarding food. The Telegraph is reporting that governments throughout the Middle East and North Africa have started stockpiling huge amounts of food in response to all the rioting that has been going on. (Again why wait to have what you need? Stock up now!Oh yeah our Government did this last 6mths with "heater meals"and Mountain House Foods, wonder why, what do they know?)
#6 When society breaks down, food shortages can happen shockingly fast. As commerce has been brought to a standstill in Egypt, serious shortages of some of the most important basic food staples are starting to be reported. Many families in Egypt only have enough food to be able to survive for a couple more days. (Again why wait to have what you need? Stock up now, a few days, really? Why not have weeks or months? I hear ya, I can't afford it, really, a 5gl bucket of rice is $30 and another $5 for the mylar and bucket, how long will that feed you? and it last 20 yrs. Let me know, I will show you how and help you.)
#7 When society breaks down, respect for personal property goes out the window. All over Egypt shops and businesses are being broken into and totally looted. (If you do have stocks of stuff stay quiet or it won't just be shops getting looted!)
#8 When society breaks down, mobs will start doing some of the most stupid things imaginable. According to Egypt's top archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, looters broke into the Egyptian Museum during the rioting "and destroyed two pharaonic mummies".
#9 When society breaks down, it always creates a "power void". The Obama administration is calling for an "orderly transition of power" in Egypt, but there is absolutely no guarantee that is going to happen - especially in a nation that has no history of legitimate democracy. (Hahaha we Americans don't even have full order during "elections" what makes anyone think it will be different in a breakdown, but hey just sit and wait the Government will be there to help you)
#10 When society breaks down, often outside influences are involved. The individual being touted as the new "leader" of the protest movement in Egypt is Mohamed ElBaradei. (Outside influences you say, why that can't happen here, unless you mean like Sharia Law upheld in a rape in New Jersey or the new Supreme Court Judge who stated that INTERNATIONAL LAW takes precedence in some cases over the CONSTITUTION? and lets not forget about us waiting to see what China said before we even made statements when things escalated between N/S Korea.)
