    Heavy Pics!!

Hey guys, finally got to downloading the digital camera's flash card. Sorry I didn't have more pics, but batteries died day 2 and day 3 it was raining too hard to pull out the digital camera. Enjoy the pics.

I try to avoid loading pictures of me, but if you want, I'll throw a picture of out-of-shape me.

Pic 1, she receives a reward for her kill.

Pic 2, she is allowed to eat internal organs (this is a real treat for raptors).

Happy Falconer (yes out-of-shape me), my RedTail Hawk (named Alpha), and her catch of the morning (slow poke squirrel, hehe).

As you can see, I hate photos of myself. Let me get back to age 18 weight and I would love personal photos again, LOL.

Well hope you all enjoyed the pics.

Klayton you look great! I'm more impressed with the bird though. Is it your very own bird that you've trained? I find it a fascinating hobby. Seems you're all set for hunting in the PAW.

Yes monkeybird, she is all mine. I trap my own birds (vs buying captive bred). I recently trained an American Kestrel too, but couldn't get her to move from crickets and grasshoppers to sparrows, so I let her go last year...

Klayton, you are more in shape than you know. If you have don't believe us, go to a mall- and take a look around you.

would love to see a thread on Falconing (is that the proper term) and how you became a Falconer. Great pics of the birds, I see red tailed hawks alot in my area.

Read recently of a 'bird of prey' grabbing a small dog from his owner! Will trained birds grab little pets?

Raptors will take pets if they are in the area and hungry enough.
The thing to remember, raptors take what is easy. We have to 'encourage' Redtail hawks to take squirrels, something out of their norm. Yes some do hunt them in the wild, but normally they hunt mice and moles and such. Think easiest prey with least amount of risk. As for small dogs, normally not taken ( I hear the meat is stringy, LOL ) but large hawks and eagles can easily take dogs. Youtube Golden Eagle, they hunt full size wolves with those things. :)
