Mountain House Food Alert, None Available, 92% Dealers Cut

    January 13, 2010
    Steve Quayle

Having been one of the largest freeze dried food dealers in the U.S. for a number of years, I can tell you that this event is ominous. There are less than a dozen freeze drying food production facilities of consequence in the U.S. of which Mountain House is the largest. I was contacted late Wednesday night by one of their major dealers. He stated that Mountain House only had 4 entrees of foil packaged food available in their warehouse. They informed my dealer friend that "It was only going to get worse"!

They would not confirm how much the U.S. govt. was buying but, it was my friend's opinion that "they pretty much bought it all"! I would strongly suggest that given the dire harvest reports and weather wars now underway, you speed up and add to your existing food supplies ASAP. Flooding, fires, blizzards and locusts, not to mention flash freezing coupled with historic snowfall in areas that don't get snow, should be a massive kick in the pants to get going in adding provisions and acquiring additional emergency items.

This is the same Steve Quayle that along with James Lloyd "prophesied" that half of the country would be nuked by July 4, 1996? :)

That being said, their is a rush going on with food storage, but it started months ago.

MH has gone up and down in inventory for years, decades even... But .gov and .mil do get priority...

I think people are wierded out by the disasters and animal deaths... And .gov/.mil I think knows something we DO NOT, only suspect with our spidey-senses

        Updated: 7/31/2008

        Dear Valued Customers:

This is an update on Oregon Freeze Dry’s #10 can situation. Because sales remain high, we continue to be unable to meet all #10 can needs. OFD is continuing to allocate as much production capacity as possible to this market segment, but we must maintain capacity for our other market segments as well.

We are able to meet demand for Mountain House pouches and most of these products are available for purchase on our website. For a list of locations where you can purchase #10 cans, which should enable you to obtain product from reputable dealers NOW, or at least in the very near future…click hereWe also want to again clarify inaccurate information we’ve seen on the Internet. This situation is not due to sales to the government domestically or in Iraq. The reason for this decision is solely due to an unprecedented sales spike in #10 cans sales.

We expect this situation to be necessary into 2009. We will update this information as soon as we know more. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience. We sincerely hope you will continue to be Mountain House customers in the future.

        Sincerely,

        OREGON FREEZE DRY INC.

Letter Re: Update on Storage Food Shortages

        Dear SurvivalBlog Readers:

As you may know Mountain House has curtailed all shipment of their freeze dried foods in cans throughout the U.S. until at least October of this year. I repeat, the supply from Mountain House has been cut and I fully believe that when their food in #10 cans is available again, it will be at much higher prices.

We still have a large supply of Mountain House Freeze Dried foods in our warehouse. It appears that we have one of the largest remaining supplies in the country as some of our biggest competitors are referring their customers to us since they are out of stock.

We do have an excellent supply of fine Dehydrated Foods on hand. Due to the unprecedented incoming response it is taking 2-to-4 weeks from receipt of order to shipment..............
