What's going on - (1-6-11)

The whole reason I found this site is because I've been feeling that and trying to start getting things together at a much faster pace. So the sense of urgency is definitely there. There seems to be more screwed up things going on than you can keep up with, and they all intensify that urgency. I was looking at food storage online, found a video I liked, and kept looking into it more and more until it led me here. It is real nice to know we aren't alone and many seemingly reasonable people are thinking similar things. Hopefully we'll all end up really well prepared for nothing much at all.

We have only been preping less than a year (seriously for 3-4 months) and it has been because of that same feeling that something bad is around the corner. I know that the great guru's of this forum repeatedly say to NOT to overreact and that they have seen gloom and doom predicted time and time again, I cannot excape that feeling of urgency. So since we are newbies, we have set a short term goal of getting the family through a winter and into the next planting season. That will allow us to lay a good foundation to build on and keep us from going overboard. Hopefully this will be enough.
