Birds falling then fish floating. It's doesn't have to be the end of the world folks. This would be a sign to GOOD Get Out Of Dodge for the safety of you and your family. Even if it's temporary which this will probably be with something poisonuous. If you decided to "Bug In" I would suggest eating/drinking your stores instead of whats killing them possibly.

This is something besides TEOTWAWKI/PAW that needs to be looked at!

Thousands of dead fish have turned up in an Arkansas river just days after 3,000 birds mysteriously dropped dead from the sky, but authorities say the deaths are not related.

An estimated 100,000 dead drum fish are floating along a 20-mile stretch of the Arkansas River and washing up on the river's banks near the town of Ozark in the northwestern part of the state.

The dead fish were discovered just after 3,000 red-wing blackbirds fell from the sky in the town of Beebe, more than 100 miles from the site of the dead fish. Officials, who tripled the early estimates of the number of dead birds, said the bird deaths may have been caused by lightning or by stress from fireworks and said they were unrelated to the fish kill.
Fish kills happen every year, but kills of this size are relatively rare. Hundreds more drum fish are sick and have been sent to the University of Arkansas for testing.

Andrew Goodwin, the associate director of the University of Arkansas' Aquaculture and Fisheries Center, said he didn't believe the deaths were caused by pollutants. "It's unlikely to be a toxin," Goodwin told AOL News by phone today.

Instead, Goodwin said he suspected that the drum fish may have experienced a population boom this summer that created more competition for food and sapped the weaker ones of their ability to fight off disease.

"It's your classic boom and bust," he said. "A group of fish will go into a population boom, and then they're competing for food, so they may not be in really good condition. Then during a cold snap the environment changes with the temperature, and their immune systems are compromised and can't always fight infection."
Goodwin said the area of the Arkansas River where the dead fish were found is not known to be particularly contaminated. He said it would take a few weeks for researchers to determine exactly what killed the fish.

Authorities said only drum fish seem to have been affected, making it even more unlikely that a pollutant is to blame.

"The fish kill only affected one species of fish," Keith Stephens of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission told CNN. "If it was from a pollutant, it would have affected all of the fish, not just drum fish."

The commission did not immediately respond to a request for comment this morning. Authorities are warning residents near the river to not eat the dead fish.

I guess I better continue thinning out the brook trout up here. They're as good or better than salmon.

I consider this in the same category as the crazies saying the world is ending on May 21st......
But, it is interesting, especially about the birds. The only thing that seems logical is the lightning maybe during the tornadoes the other day...

Rumors and speculation are running overtime on this one. I have yet to hear a logical explanation. As far as the reports are going, only one species of fish and only one species of birds have been affected. I could live with it being either one or the other, but not both at the same time.

Other speculation says that this happened once before and that was when the New Madrid Fault turned loose and rang church bells as far away as Boston! The Mississippi River ran backwards for a long time and created Reelfoot Lake.

Now I'm not saying the Fault is fixing to shift again, but I am watching things real close for awhile. My bags are packed and my food is sealed:cool:

If there were tornadoes in the area, it is the explanation of the birds. Birds have very fragile organs (extremely lightweight animals for a reason). Tornadoes have the ability to increase the barometric pressure 1000 fold in their immediate area, thus literally exploding the lungs of these weak animals. This "pressure" is also why a tornado can "throw" a single piece of straw and inbed it into a tree, the pressure is so great on all sides of the straw as it is being "thrown" that it doesn't bend as it typically would when hitting the tree. As to explain why only one breed of birds? Well birds fly together in a common flock, these just happened to be led by the dumbest flock leader possible. Maybe his name was obama?

I did not hear about the fish, and would have to read up on it before I attempted an explanation.

BUT all that being said, who controls the weather? Maybe it is TEOTWAWKI ???

The weather is "allegedly" controlled by the H.A.A.R.P. machine in Alaska.
            Look it up.

I think they try and play god because they can. He gave us free will and they take advantage of it. Its a shame.

I am glad to see this sparked thought! My wife I just had the best conversation with my teenage daughter on this! Wow I'm a lucky man she is so smart and we discussed our preps for the first time, opsec and what we would do if an event like this happened around us. I don't even care to a point imediatley what caused it. I would bug out ASAP away from wahtever because critters and specific species of critters don't "just die".

Good point on it being an opportunity to discuss plans w/ family. I will bring it up with the wife and use this as more cannon fodder for my preps.... :)

My daughter and I had a second conversation with her bringing it up.
I was blown away on what she said on the matter and the fact that she brought the convesation up to begin with and that it was a topic among her and her friends at school. One of friends told her that if anything like this happened she would "just follow her because she knew my daughter would know what to do". Thats crazy they are 16 and one is viewed as capable by a sheeple already.
I am stunned, saddend and yet immensely proud.
