  • "Fortress", Japan warning citizens, UK saying war in 1000 days

Lots of "doom" info out there right now.

    What have you heard?

I'm hearing folks saying 2027 is being thrown around a lot and supposedly has been for a while. When asked the only reason I hear is that it's expected that China will "move on Taiwan" then. I think Taiwan is a feint from China to keep the West looking that way while they make in roads in Africa.

What scuttlebutt have you heard? Anything actionable?

an associate monitors threats as part of his employment for civilian companies.
he has not wanted to be personally 'stocked up" for his family beyond what folks do for a short term storm.

suddenly this week i get an email. stocking up for 6 months he says

then says the following links are publicly available. i scanned them.
one was newsweek article saying prep for 2 weeks. the other 2 articles were longer.

he's dodging the discussion by phone. but his blunt/curt style in the email
and his dodging his real source tells me something got his attention.

i've mentioned the fortress discussion to two different groups of folks. both groups are active christians.
asking "hey, what do you think... should we really be doing this? our money's tight. what do you think?
primary responses were on the order of "hey, that ain't gonna happen here!"
so i mentioned the matthew 24 story of pestilence, wars, famines. death, jailed, etc...
responses were varied, but common response was "hey, we're christians. our God won't let something like that happen to us."
my response. "whew, thanks, but it sure looks like the bible is warning us."
to their repeated assurance of safety, security, and provision.

    i'm sad.
i suspect some christian leaders have misled their followers. intentional? probably not? just repeating ignorance
    and happy story? yep.
    sad.

My daughter read an article about the military being instructed to prepare for 90 days off-grid. She got spooked and immediately ordered more dry goods, canned goods, propane, and bottled water. I'm flying up to visit her soon, and told her I'd go through her pantry to decide what else/how much more she and her teenage daughter will need to survive a SHTF scenario. Several suggestions I made were rebuffed because "we don't like that" or "it has too many carbs" (God bless the weight-conscious and picky teenagers). If you're hungry enough, you'll eat rice and pasta!

More than once the Bible warns to keep stocks of food etc. during times of plenty to prepare for droughts, crop failures, famine, and wars. Joseph obeyed and was able to prepare Egypt for 7 years of famine - and help his brothers/neighbors who didn't prepare. Christian leaders who ignore these warnings and tell their flocks to rely on God are doing a huge disservice to their congregations. Yes, God will provide but He doesn't prohibit common sense planning. These are not the days of Israelites traversing the desert with manna falling from heaven every day.
